Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone has used car stereo city to install a deck in their BA?

Am looking at having a deck, splits, amp and sub put in and I rang up a couple 2 places

First was audiocom, they quoted me $390 to install it and said it takes a long time to put in the deck due to the centre console etc,

2nd was west side car audio and they said $420!! :spoton:

this seems like a fair bit, I then rang car stereo city and they said it was no problem takes the same time as any other car and can do it all for around $170.

Just seems like a big difference between them so just wondering if they or dodgey or whateva. The guy also said he has done heaps of BA's.

Any advice here would be appreciated

Thanks!!!!!

which car stereo city??? Ozzy park?? they are very cheap compared to a lot of places.. they quoted me $400 for my install compared to $1500 @ audiocom and 1400 @ westside...

I would not have a clue what the install quality would be like but im sure it cant be that bad..

The guy that used to do all there custom work has gone out on his own now and he's the best I've seen. Personally I wouldnt get them to touch my car but to buy gear, they normally beat any price...

Is the because of any experience with them? or just because they are cheap? I already have the gear I just need it installed.

Cheers

Mate, all installer give you life time warranty on their install jobs so if it stops working a year down the track and it’s due to a dodgy install they have to fix it. Also if you are not happy with the job when you go to pick the car up, don’t pay until they have made it spot on!

One other thing about the price and this applies for pretty much anything! The reason why the others have give you a higher quote is most like because they don’t know what the hell they are doing so it is going to take them an extra 2 hours to figure out what they have to do, hence you have to pay more. Also the cheaper quote would indicate that because they have done them before they know the dash inside/out and can do the job a lot faster and hence the lesser cost to you.

A good installer would only take about 3 hours to install the items that you have mentioned and $170 sounds about right to me. Anything more and you are getting ripped off! Simple!

I'd say the more exxy places would use thicker MDF, better quality cables, and generally do a more thorough job of sealing sub boxes and running cables etc.

My quotes from Audiocom ($1500) and westside ($1400) and car stereo city ($400) were for headunit installed, 2 amplifiers installed, 6.5" splits installed and a custom box to house 2 x 15's - I was supplying all the gear.

I really cant see there being a $1000 difference in build and sound quality.

I got mine done at Alberts in morley, installed Deck, Amp and Sub with box Charged me $1400 all up with me buying all the stuff from him. He used all monster cabling, gold fuses custom surround for the head unit. Highly recomended.

So they do a good job?? can you send me some pics? or can I see it? I just got a quote off them.. trying to screw em down a bit..

can't decide on the sub setup...

Car Stereo City.. good old Kevin and Soul.. well they blew up my 1507 when they put it in my magna and smoked out the car.. plus had to wait weeks for parts to get it fixed (not their fault) well kinda.. But they did fix it all and did me a great price on install.. not sure who is working for them at the back now.. but there was a little asian dude who was awsome.. and another guy Terry who now has his own shop in malaga (westside car audio) that my next stop to get a quote.. but I am not sure if they have done much work with the BA.. I know alberts has..
