One off which has attracted over 1,200 replies and more than 36,000 views. There appears to me a rather large number of T owners having brake issues. I believe this is contributed to the fact that the standard brakes fitted to these cars are inadequate! This to me becomes more apparent with the statements made here and other forums that Ford have upgrade the brakes on the BF model. They say it"s because the BF now has a whopping 5kw more!Having worked in the motor industry for 20 something years, one of the main causes of brake shudder is excessive heat. Yes the brakes on these cars just due to the nature off the beast are going to get hotter than an XT or XR6 driven by Martha or Reverend John on Sunday.I know you are saying "I should have ordered Premium Brakes" or "mortage the house and upgrade them with aftermarket units" both off which are fair statements. However I think any company who manufactures a vehicle, all of it's standard equipment should be up to scratch and I believe that the standard brakes on MKI & MKII T's are not!I would like your views. I don't want criticism or a sh*t fight as I am intitled to my own opinion as you are! As you said they have upgraded the standard brakes on the BF now.I can't say I drive the car hard enough to ever feel the need for more brakes, however I am starting to get a bit of brake shudder on the car now at nearly 30,000kms.And worst of all in my opinion, the standard brakes on the BA's look crap. Too small, unpainted hubs giving it that rusty look and as for those bloody black dust plates, don't get me started!I have been looking into updating at least the front of mine with territory brakes. Ford want over $400 for each front caliper!Oh well, looks like the crap brakes will have to stay. Unless you get a LOT of other's with this problem to band together AND stick together your wasting your breathe. As with the other thread it went nowhere. As Vik says, you don't get a free lunch! better stopping means more wear and more heat so more chance of heat warpage and shudder.Chooka Edited 06/12/05 06:03 AM by Chooka Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/21761-brake-shudder/#findComment-322358 Share on other sites

Asbestos may be hazardous to the health, but it sure did have the right characteristics to provide an excellent friction material with high heat tolerance. So thank the greenies, for all your problems with squeal, and shudder and fade!tom Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/21761-brake-shudder/#findComment-322370 Share on other sites
