Turbo Territiory

I like the idea of a turbo Territory. I do hope they differentiate it from the XR range turbo and make it less powerful (as fpvT6 was saying)

Also, Ford, howsabout you get a megaphone next time and announce to the world that this is turbo Territory (what a bra )

I have suspected it's a turbo diesel as well. I reckon the demand for a turbo diesel 4WD would be greater than turbo petrol and the 2.7 Jag TD is a corker.

A mate of mine in Geelong spotted it on the road recently but was not close enough to hear if it was a diesel.

You would think a turbo deisel would make more sense in the AWD and I have heard this will be an addition to the range in the future, but everything else I have heard/read seems to think this one is the petrol version so it will be interesting to see.

My guess is turbo diesel with engine-top mounted intercooler from the Jag (which Ford own).

Nice car but don't know why it has to be in AWD - suspect it's either marketing or testing in both AWD and 2WD configuration.

The diesel will sell big time given expected fuel economy and a Ford price.

I drove past one of these mules last week on the highway next to the product engineering offices, and it sure as hell wasn't a diesel. It moved pretty quickly for a 2 tonne truck and the exhaust sounded quite good. Wheels were black painted XR 18's.

Turbo Territory? Well, it would help address the fact that the regular NA one lacks a bit of power. It corners pretty well for something that weighs 2.1 tonnes but the critical 80-120 clicks interval is a bit long and you need to find a long straight to be able to get past.

If it is a TD then that makes sense as well - one of the aspects of the Territory is that although it isn't bad for an SUV - it does cost more to run than a people mover like a Grandis. Having had a Territory AWD for a while, it's a really practical piece of kit for weekenders diving and skiing but I was glad that I wasn't paying for the fuel.

But then I find myself back driving a BF XR6T with the ZF & Luxury Pack, been a long time since my XF S Pack with 'bilstein' suspension, option LSD, 3 speed auto and the 4.1 EFI. I don't miss those options - nor the 2 speaker tape deck, digital LED minor instruments or the 65 series 14 inch alloys and the umbrella handle parking brake. That and the fact the steering wheel was as big as the one with the airbag in it that the BF has... no remote boot release and the fold down the rear licence plate to get to the non-locking fuel cap...

With Australia moving accross to Europeann fuel emission standards for Diesel as of next month, this now open the window for many more manufactures to send their diesel variations down under.

I believe the turbo terri will be Diesel. I know from a article that ford are looking at the Jag Diesel variant as an option for Aus. You will see in the coming months a number of predominately european manufactures bring out diesel options in their cars. BMW have the 5 series diesel coming out. Jag will have the Diesel X Type launched in Aus shortly and so on.

I would suggest if the Australian manufacturers want to be in the ball game, they will need to follow suit. It is commonly known that Aus has a lack of education when it comes to the benefits of Diesel. All you have to do is look at europe where you can buy a 1.2 litre diesel Barina.

It makes complete sense if ford do a diesel terri as they are known for their lack of fuel ecomony and this would be a good way of introducing Diesel to the ford family and customer base. Don't be surprised if you see a diesel falcon somewhere down the track.
