Speed camera operator booked for illegal park

VICTORIAN police will issue a parking ticket to a speed camera operator who allegedly broke the law while booking speeding motorists.

Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon today confirmed a Tenix Solutions camera operator would be booked after allegedly parking his camera car illegally for several hours in a suburban bus stop.

"We will in fact issue a parking ticket with the operator and he will be dealt with by his own organisation," Ms Nixon told reporters today.

"I think he made an inappropriate decision, and some of us do on occasions."

Ms Nixon said speed cameras were used appropriately and properly "for the vast majority of times" but when mistakes were made they were admitted.

blah blah blah usual propaganda etc etc...

So theoretically, doesnt this mean that any evidence he has taken of speeding drivers is now rendered useless, as it wasnt taken in a lawful manner ???

  • Just because it is, doesn't mean it should be.....

I reckon I've seen parking officers park their cars illegally so that they could get out and book the car they spied parking illegally. So, I reckon it does not matter. :spoton:

The problem is that you have to see them breaking the law to get out of it yourself... But I think that you'd probably get out of any speeding fines issued by this guy with out to much trouble... (You'd just have to prove it was him)

Hmmm would be interesting to get confirmation on this, as I always thought they had to get the evidence lawfully.
