Go the T56 if it's a MK II NA :fool:

If it's a MK1 though.....I'm not having a problem with my T5 in the MK1 Turbo yet, (haha, I did say "YET"), modding may be ugly but....pffft. I'm not after that much power now, just a CAPA edit, Haltech Inteceptor or RDP 300kw kit or something to give it more punch. That will do me.

The Auto NA we had though "GIMLI", hmm, not bad and the car was modded to 230kw. Depends what you prefer, auto or manual. If you're just leaving it stock, the T5 should be fine.

MKII NA T56?? WTF

MKII XR6 NA's still had the T5.

XT may be slightly quicker than the XR6 or whatever, I know what one I'd rather! XR6 is such a better package :spit:

Glenn is correct here, the Mark II's still had the sh*tbox T5 that everyone hates.. My mates got one in a Mark II XR6 ute and he wants an Auto after driving my Auto XLS work ute... Its quicker and way better to drive he thinks, clunky sh*tboxes..

Hi guys,

I am looking at buying a second hand BA XR6 NA and was wondering why the XR6 NA is slower than the XT. According to Motor magazine the XT 0-100km/h time is 7.23 where as the XR6 0-100km/h time is 8.11. Just wondering why the big gap in times when both put out the same amount of power and both have the same weight?

Thanks

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I would not rely on MOTOR magazine times at all, Jesse Taylor and co are dreamers,

I found their times to be way off.

eg: they claim the Expensive Daewoo VZ SV6 CAN DO 0-100km/h in 6.95s ???? Yeh sure!!!

Where as WHEELS claim a more credible 7.7s, Autospeed 7.8s and a few others 8.0s, 8.1s

I am inclined to believe WHEELS thankyou very much.

Besides MOTOR gave the XT 4 stars and the XR6 n/a 3 stars, yeh right guy's sure no worries and what weeds are you all smoking?

I find Wheels a much better magazine. Like the format and the information provided and also find the data believable. Can't really comment on the VZ SV6 article as I have not read the article in Motor. But, I don't believe that the SV6 cracks the sub 7sec either.

IF you can find one, how about an V8 XT? Quicker than any NA 6, and they have the same semi-sports suspension as the Fairmont Ghia.

Don't do it. Was tossing up between XR6 and 5.4 XT when I bought my first BA when they had just come out. XT was a bit dearer but comming from an AU XR6 I hated the thought that the BA XR6 had the same power as a stocker.

Drove them both and the XT didn't go much harder than the XR6 and didn't handel any where near as well either. XR6 looked better outside and inside so I got the XR6. Glad I did to cause the resale value for a XT with the 5.4 stinks.

If only I had of got the turbo in the first place................................................

Since I posted this thread last year I have changed my mind and have decided to save up for longer and just go the turbo. With the money I was going to spend on mods to the NA, it was going to add up to being able to buy a second hand turbo so have decided to do this instead.
