Pinging= Bad tuning :laughing:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Or bad fuel,

Sick of hearing this :nono: excuse from tuners what a joke :laughing:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Got to agree as well. Blame the fuel etc.

Maybe if the tune was done properly in the first place and the knock sensors were doing their job pinging wouldn't be an issue.

BTW, someone told me there's been another XR6T engine failure in Perth.....bit of a worry. Not a stock car either.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You talking about youngys? or you talking about milz's original tune dont in perth by someone else that bent his rods with a stock car? Milz has since had his car tuned by me and is runing 12.3's, As for youngys, well lets just say he will think next time someone tells him that to much is to much he will listen :laughing:

Not really much of a shock is it jason? I mean stock motors bending rods making 220 rwkw's is bad but engines making well over 350 rwkw's stock breaking, sort of expect that, specially when there have been stock motors doing the same thing as youngys with no mods..

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No Simon, it's not youngy's, neither is it Milz engine. This engine scorched # 2 and # 3 piston, apparently.

Details are scetchy at the moment, I was only told about this by Barry from BPT yesterday afternoon after he received a phone call from someone with this problem. It wasn't his customer either.

I agree, 350 - 380rwkw is the limit on the stock internals. But, why would anyone drive or have their car tuned with an engine at it's limit? I've seen an engine bay catch on fire due to a rod being thrown and oil hitting the exhaust system. Lucky the whole car didnt catch on fire. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

One thing is for sure, this is becoming a more frequent occurance which should be avoided all-together.

I agree. The only car that I have tuned that I have pushed to the edge is my own, I certainly wouldnt be looking for warranty on my engine if it pops, I still cant believe it hadles the power it does. I dont think that the xr engines should be pushed over 330rwkw's.

My car was tuned in the cooler months mid year. Now the weather is warmer, could that be a cause for the pinging I am experiencing now?

A point to note is that APS have always been conservative with their tunes for reasons
