Hi guys I just signed up to the forum as I have just ordered a new BA Mkii T. I was thinking about having the car edited once it has been run in taking it up to 270 - 280 kw while retaining everything else stock. I have read all the forum posts about how edit could be detected by a dealer, so without any hardware changes and re flashing with the stock flash when returning it to the dealer I was wondering if anyone has had warranty cancled simply due to edit.

Welcome to the forums mate.

Do a quick search, I havent been able to find anyone that has ever been able to get 270-280 rwkw out of a completely stock car with just an edit.

I'd suggest the 245- 255 mark would be more likely.

it depends on if you mean rear wheel kw or flywheel kw.

danno is right if you want around 250 rwkw.

you will need injectors as a min to get above 250rwkw

As the other guys here said, Welcome.

Lots of past threads on both Edit and mods vs warranty.

If you want to take a chance with your warranty on any mods whether brakes, wheels, exhaust, chip or Edit, you make the decision based on your judgement. Remember nearly everything on this forum is based upon opinion and it is not an authoratative source. Some will say its fine (till they have a major issue and get confronted by Ford), others will be more cautious.

Talk over the what ifs with your dealer, be straight up front. If you dont like the response you get either follow the Ford line with your dealer, go ahead with your proposed mods and take the very real risk that your warranty may no longer be valid for those parts of your drivetrain/chassis, or try another dealer.

Enjoy your time on this forum.

Yeah Guys talking fly wheel kws, I’m not looking for a ball tearer just want to have a little bit of an edge over my mates with stock T's and SS's while still being reliable, so 270 -280 seems fairly conservative and like a good compromise to me. Sorry if the edit has been done to death but I was looking to see if anyone in exactly the same situation running only edit had their warranty canceled. Should get my new toy early next fortnight so I can't wait. :msm:

I had the edit done to my car a while back. It was the cappa unit and I also had it custom tuned. The end result was 259.4rwkw with no other mods to the car. Just recently I had to return the car to ford for some warranty repairs. Im having gear box troubles and diff wine! I returned the car back to its factory edit the night before I took it in. Its now a week later and im happy to report that I have a new gear box, slave cylinder, and a rebuilt diff. All at no charge and under the warranty. The bill for this had I have to pay for it would have been a few thousand dollars,so Im guessing that my mods to the car IE(edit) have gone undetected by ford.

J Bomb

dont look at fwkw as its a guess

look at rwkw is a better indication.
