I had a look at an XR6 BF today - and was un impressed. The mouth/bumper - didnt really make any difference, spotlights - look ok.

The Wheels - 17 inch ones look ugly with the little marks at the end of the spokes, and the 'snakeskin' looking print on the standard seats looks yuck.

I didnt think it was better than a BA, maybe slightly worse.

(though the brakes would be good).

I agree sorta. the BF should have looked a bit more different in my opinion. The BA mkII wheels look best out of all that Ive seen. The interior trim looks icky I reckon but all those other improvements and the ZF 6spd sound v.good.

Has anyone else noticed the front bar on a BF XR resembles a Ford Focus?

The wheels are ugly too, but other than that, it's basically no different to a BA. The rear lights are a subtle but effective improvement. Interior wise, the extra colour coding is also a massive improvement. It's a wonder they never did that with the BA to begin with.

The FPVs look heaps better though.

The BF is just a stop gap to help combat the 380 introduction and the 6speed is a grab at extra profit till the 6 speed VE gets here in 1 year. Given this, the BF is half baked because Ford don't feel they needed to do much more at the moment and they are making top profit on the highline/sports models.

I looked at the BF and couldn't see any reason what so ever not to wait for the BF II in 12 months - this will be the loaded version of the BF to combat the release of the all new Expensive Daewoo VE. The VE has 6 speed coming, all the techno-stuff (DSC etc...) and a lot more grunt that the Ford (300kw LS2).

Air International (they make lots of stuff for the BA) have new center console (HVAC) in test at the moment and the crappy one we all know now is crappy compared to the new one - which is destinded for the BF II in 12 months!

I decide to not buy a BF and I will wait till the BFII and VE are released before I make my next buying decision.

Wait till the VE gets here and do a deal you won't believe on a far better BFII over the BF.

btw - the seats, wheels and external "upgrades " to the BF look crap - I prefer my Mk1 to the BF.

News shocker!

This just in - future models will (possibly) have more features, (possibly) be more powerful, and (possibly) make previous models look like a bag of sh*t! Or not.

In the meantime, owners of current models will continue to make useless speculative posts. Or not.

You're right though, it's never too late to wait for the next (possibly best) thing. Or the next one. Or the one after that....

"Hey Marzapan, why the push-bike?" "Oh, I hear the next model cars are going to be awesome, unlike the current sh*t... "

meh

I have the mk11... and I hate the wheels... wish I got the the ones of the mark1 changed over at trade in time

The improvements on the BF are not that half baked. The sound proofing, bigger brakes and ZF box do make a noticable differnce and comparing the RR pricing with the BA MkI & MkII RR pricing, the BF represents better value for money.... As for styling, well appart from the enthusiast, most punters out there are hard pressed to tell the 3 series appart. Wheels, the main point of external styling contention between the 3 series, are rarely left standard in the enthusiasts hands.

BUT... at model change over (like right now), if you're looking to go manual its hard to justify the purchase of a BF Turbo when you can get an out of the box BA MkII with more than $3k fruit on road for $12k less than a new BF.

Sure, the next big thing from Ford will be an attempt to hold ground against the new Holden (which is likely to be a vast improvement over their aging platform). But Expensive Daewoo won't be giving their new model away so we can expect signficiant improvements in Ford and Expensive Daewoo cars but not lower new pricing until the models age.

In the meatime, if your wheels need changing why wait? Buy good value now and change over in 2 years when the new models have proved themselves.

I decided to do just that - get a run out deal on a BA MkII rather than get a new BF.

I much prefer the front styling of the MkII over the BF

I am the happiest camper around - I could only be happier if I'd opted for a Turbo rather than an NA
