I agree - it is handy to know how to change without a clutch, and yes, start in first with the starter motor if you had to.

But.... not using the cluthc on a regular basis in a car with synchromesh can mean that you will wear the synchromesh out faster than normal. If you are matching revs well etc it will reduce this, but I would continue to use the clutch perosnally.

Have you ever pushed really hard on the foot rest that lives where a clutch peddle normally does, and wondered why the clutch pedal isnt moving?

OR, have you ever gone for the clutch pedal and caught the side of the brake pedal ... now that's FUN! ... talk about a hard speed limiter!

Does anyone really think that it's acceptable to have to 'heel-toe' or double-clutch a $60k car to get it to feel like a $60k car?

I don't . . . . so I've booked it in with the dealer to have another look at the driveline tolerances!

My driveline has felt 2 years old since it was about 2 weeks old. Feels nice when you drive it hard, but creeping around in traffic or slow speed zones is a pain in the butt.

Regardless of how much of a performance car it is, surely it shouldn't be rocket science to drive it smoothly!
