One assumes that the same level of assumed liability is directed at Ford for all issues that occur with a non Edit-flashed vehicle? ............ sounds like a black hole of contentious debate here......Dingah Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/21457-pcm-replaced/page/4/#findComment-318866 Share on other sites

Dingah<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I guess when we talk of damage...it's to the firmware....not the actual PCM. Like a computer virus can't physically damage hardware. But it can render it totally useless by attacking the firmware that makes it function. If that is the case, Ford would not be able to tell HOW it malfuntioned....just that it has.My opinion only.Cheers Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/21457-pcm-replaced/page/4/#findComment-318913 Share on other sites

He has replaced my flasher with a new unit which is said to have the latest "Nov 2005" software, what the changes are I don't know.I'm a bit cautious to flash my T, but looking at my options ie: Xede, Unichip etc I do still feel it is the way to go. I need to find a good tuner and have a custom tune done! How much did engine power output change, boost level etc. Post the dyno sheets.**Can you without question say that your flash tuner did not damage my PCM?Yes***Can you explain why on the factory tune why it began overboosting?Yes. Plenty of factory tunes hit overboost. ****If I use the flasher again and it cause a fault in the PCM and Ford refuse to replace it, will CAPA?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>No. Put the car back to stock, and put your flasher on Ebay. that's my best advice for you.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>With customer relations and service like this why would you go anywhere else!! Particularly after all other external factors causing issues are removed. Good luck and I hope you receive your replacement flashbox soon.
