All very hard to believe, as we have said before 1s do not become zeros because they feel the need but the vast range of analogue systems that comptise your motor vehicle and the infinitely variable factor called the human factor can combine to produce the weirdest range of unforeeable outcomes.

Again how does one define 'damage' to a PCM and how on earth does one then unambiguously prove or disprove the assertions that a PCM is damaged and then what the 'damage' is attributed to?

One assumes that the same level of assumed liability is directed at Ford for all issues that occur with a non Edit-flashed vehicle? ............ sounds like a black hole of contentious debate here......

I guess when we talk of damage...it's to the firmware....not the actual PCM.

Like a computer virus can't physically damage hardware. But it can render it totally useless by attacking the firmware that makes it function.

If that is the case, Ford would not be able to tell HOW it malfuntioned....just that it has.

My opinion only.

Cheers

Just a note to update this thread!

As mentioned contact was made by Tony (CAPA). He has replaced my flasher with a new unit which is said to have the latest "Nov 2005" software, what the changes are I don't know.

I'm a bit cautious to flash my T, but looking at my options ie: Xede, Unichip etc I do still feel it is the way to go. I need to find a good tuner and have a custom tune done!

*Can you explain why a program can be loaded at say 9:00am than reloaded at 9:30am it feels different?

No. What was the exact difference though? How much did engine power output change, boost level etc. Post the dyno sheets.

**Can you without question say that your flash tuner did not damage my PCM?

Yes

***Can you explain why on the factory tune why it began overboosting?

Yes. Plenty of factory tunes hit overboost.

****If I use the flasher again and it cause a fault in the PCM and Ford refuse to replace it, will CAPA?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No. Put the car back to stock, and put your flasher on Ebay. that's my best advice for you.

With customer relations and service like this why would you go anywhere else!! :spoton::gooff:

Good to hear.

I understand you trepidation in flashing the car again, however, it is unlikely that you will have these issues again.

I'm sure Martin and CAPA would have more accurate information regarding the number of errors, but I'd suggest that they are very rare. Particularly after all other external factors causing issues are removed.

Good luck and I hope you receive your replacement flashbox soon.
