Guest Guests Posted 16/11/05 07:56 AM Share Posted 16/11/05 07:56 AM You'd be unhappy if you just picked up an STi tuned for 98ron Aust standard instead to the 100ron Jap. So how long till Ford tune the XR6T's for 100ron and give you guys no choice?I'll give 100ron a go in my N/A, tuned with a 98 stock capa tune try it and see. At last we get a 100RON fuel... pity they have added ethanol to it just to add a bit of mystery... I will speak to my service manager (Knox Ford) and see what he says and then take it from there. If it's all good then woo hoo!!! But it seems promising...Jack

Posted 16/11/05 10:11 AM Share Posted 16/11/05 10:11 AM As far as I know all car companies are happy for anyone to run the ethanol/petrol mix. It was only ever a problem I believe when rogue petrol stations were adding who knows what percentage of ethanol to their tanks! This is now monitored & capped at 10%. I personnely have been running the United Boost 98 for over a month now & I am consistantly getting 20-40km per tank more. As for any increase in power? I can only guess that with running this fuel and having your car tuned to it would you see or feel any difference. How much is the new Shell 100 octane fuel compared with Optimax? Posted 16/11/05 11:01 AM Share Posted 16/11/05 11:01 AM (edited) How much is the new Shell 100 octane fuel compared with Optimax? That is the question...Are they gonna be stupid and price it above standard Optimax at 12-15c over standard unleaded per litre or are they going to be smart and price it at 8c per litre above standard unleaded...They (shell) will try and make as much money as possible... so you can only imagine that it will only be more expensive again... pricksJackEdit- Go Australia vs Uraguay in the soccer playoff... My car pinged badly under heavy acceleration. I wont be using that again.

As the general concensus around here(and my own personal experience) is that optisoot is crap(not in every car, but most), I wonder if this new fuel will be any better, as its more than likely just optisoot with added ethanol... I haven't tried any of these ethanol blended fuels yet, but from what I have heard they are usually around 5c/L cheaper than the standard 98 octane fuels at the private servo's. It will be interesting to see if shell continue this trend or go on a profiteering run and price the f@#k out of it...Chris
