Hi Everyone,

Well had my first run at Calder last night.

1st run 13.685 @ 106.9mph 60ft 2.432 R/T 2.929

2nd run 13.695 @106.7mph 60ft 2.438 R/T .918

3rd run 13.389 @108.9mph 60ft 2.412 R/T 1.363

after that I just practiced launching still can't figure out right rpm to launch at using standard clutch.

13.53 @ 108mph 60ft 2.458

13.7 @ 107mph 60ft 2.493 worst time of night

The car feels strong. It seems I need to work on my 60ft times, mph seem good.

whats you thoughts on getting better 60ft times remembering its a manual was running with MT radials

cheers

George

I know how hard the manual utes are to get off the line.. Your times are like my first outing. My best of the ( first ) outing was 13.2 @ 111 with a 2.3. 60

Next meeting saw times drop with practice.

Only hint I can give is don't dump the clutch, just ride it off the line.

On MT streets you should see some good times- hit those gear changes harder ( unless it's a 5spd and your doing ok!! )

13.3 is a nice time for a manual, well done. I agree with F6 UTE try riding the clutch off the line if your getting wheel spin.

not dumping is the best advice, you just get bogged down something severe, but at the same time if you ride too long you dont get a nice rush

thanks for the feedback. Yeah I have been dumping the clutch and seems to be bogging down and hesitating, I don't think the clutch is sliping can't smell it!

Mod's are 2nd cai 968's valve springs, edit, 3.5inch cat 3.5inch dump pipe with 1 inch wast gate pipe and ase ic.

I just fited a boost guage on today suprised to see only running 11psi I thought it was about 14psi.

First time I had the edit done with valve springs and injectors had peak psi of 14 at 279rwkws.

I had it retuned few weeks back when I fitted the cat dump dipe and ic and went up in power to 305rwkws with pinging back off to 295rwkws it was a hot day 32degrees don't know it this had anything to do with the affects of tuning a car in these conditions.

So makes me wonder more power less boost. So if it was running the orignal boost I would asume that power would be greater!

Is it possible that tuners back off power so that you purchase the next upgrade kit?

anymore feedack would be appriciated

Well with a bit of luck will out a Calder again to see if we can better the time.

Cheers

Uncanny George. I did a similar thing at calder some time ago. It was a 35 degree day by the time I had sat in the traffic to calder with Geea and finally got to the track it was about 32 degress. I let it cool down for approx 30 mins (which was not enough). Anyway when the track opened I was first up and ran a 13.3 at 114mph. Then from there on the next 3 runs tapered off with a 13.4, 13.5, then 13.7 as the heat took it's toll especially with a stock cooler. Very similar rwkw (305rwkw) for me the only difference is the box.

I then let the car cool down for a few hrs and later on that evening I went up to run again with the air temp down and cool engine, based on how strong the car looked in the heat with a 13.3 the boys were pretty pumped to see a mid 12 with the mph I had run, however I snaped the axel as I launched so that was the end of that.

Mine was aT5 however, with the mph you have shown and getting your 60ft down to 2 or less you will see yourself in the high 12's, it all about technique. Do not dump the clutch, however also do not ride it out too much as this not only cooks the clutch but slows you down. The trick is to get off it as quickly as possible by co-ordinating the two. The other major trick with the manual to getting a good time is change gear as least as possible. In the T5 you could just get it over the qtr in 3rd. Not sure what the ratio's are in the T56 but if you don't have to go into 4th don't, or if the ratio's are higher then don't go into 5th run it out as far as you can in 4th, this will assit in a much better time.

Try running later at night as well when the air is cool. It would be nice to see some of the manual guys run consistant 12's.

Good Luck!
