ha ha..that's the corrosion you can see!......but of course twenty years of research could be fatally flawed by facts.

And as well all know... you should never let facts get in the way of a good story

jokes... :nono:

If you can prove that the rust in my boot was caused by the ocean be my guest.

Of course it wouldn't have anything to do with the fact the boot is LEAKING.

You really are making this far too hard.

My post was of general interest to all those living in the coastal zone concerning the extremely corrosive effects of that environment.

I really dont give a stuff about the corrosion in your boot or anywhere else for that matter which is 'obviously' due to a manufacturing fault.

I wish you well in your quest to prove the bleeding obvious and apologise for being so poorly focussed on your issues.

And how do they fix it? what do they need to do?

I have been told that they paint a rust converter over all the affected areas. This is also suppose to penetrate the joint. Then a spray paint over that.

Picked up the car today from the dealer.

Boot area on both sides look as if it has been sprayed. I hope it was treated first.

The spray job is great can't tell there was any rust and looks like new. I hope it isn't just a cover up job to get out of warranty.

that's what they did to mine today , I told them if it rusts in the same spot I will expect it to be fixed again. They said it didnt appear water was getting in and he blamed it on condensation on the metal because it was exposed and not painted properly first.

However post 21 in this thread said he had the window removed and reinstalled I would have been happir with that.
