Hi all,

My t is also a 2003 model and I found out 2 weeks after I got the car.

When parked on a slight downhill the chanels around the bood fill with water and then it runs into the car from underneath the rear windscreen.

I had to get all my carpets and interior changed as the were soaked. They gave me a loan car and I tried the same thing and guess what, same problem.

When the car was at the dealer with the window out you could see that where there is supposed to be sealant there is nothing, it only goes halfway round the join.

Hope this helps

I was washing the car this morning and notice 2 small lumps of rust in the corner of the boot.  Upon further inspection it looks as though the boot's been leaking for quite some time.

Mine is a 2003 so anyone who owns an XR around these period, have a look for signs of rust.

My car has done 35,000kms and so far it's had 2 diffs, a leaking sump gasket!, leaking radiator core and now rust.....

Read your post a while ago but didn't look at that time. So guess what?

Just looked and the exact same place has a circle of rust and the seams have lines of rust. All this is very light at present.

Mine is a 2004, 30,000klm and just under 18 months old, mainly garaged.

When I showed the dealer of course very surprised, and I was asked how long was I planning on keeping the car? That gives them and idea of whay sort of fix they have to do, I guess. Then they took some photos.

Then around to the paint shop for an inspection and quote to be sent to Ford.

Again thaks to this forum it was found early. Even the dealer asked where did I find out about where to look.

I actually got it fixed yesterday.

Took it to Ford and they must have a local panel beater they use. It only took them a few hours.

They sprayed fish oil everywhere to stop the rust coming back. Only problem is the entire car smells fishy now.....
