My mate just got his Boost/Vacuum gauge installed, and when the car is off it sit's at 0 but as soon as he turn's the car on, it on it goes to like 20 on the Vacuum side ?? what's wrong with it ? isn't it ment to stay at 0 ?? how can he fix it ?

When the car is idling it is in fact sucking air into the cylinders and therefore would produce a vacuum in the manifold. When you open the throttle up it allows more air in and less restriction so the gauge gets closer to zero (ie less vacuum). At a point where the turbo is spinning enough the air changes from being sucked in to being forced in and hence you get positive pressure on the gauge.

I need a lot of throttle before the gauge reads boost - ie a large amount - do you think I might have a leak in the line to the gauge? (I thought it was normal).

eg at 100kph the car is still way into the vacuum side of the gauge unless you stick your foot hard up it. At maximum urge it gets to 6psi boost. (though often only to 5).

Two types of boost gauge one does boost only 0-30 psi the other

vacuum + boost -30 -0- +30 psi if that makes sence I like the Vacuum boost that what I got unless you have a 10 psi map (edit) the gauge only goes from 0 to 5 :crybaby: and that would be a little boring I think ,at least the vacuum boost gauges moves :crybaby::spoton:
