FIrst of all I tested 3 metal 3.5 inch cats best flowing 390 cfm. On our bench the smb flowed 660 cfm, the way smb measured the flow was very crude. Its a bit hard to sit there and make statemnts of what cats flow better unles you have tested them all on the same bench.....P.S what test pressure did you use to flow it? and what brand?

sorry but im not buying into this...

how can you get just 390cfm from the 3.5 metal cat when the 3' model does this:

I spoke to option1 garage about these cats on the phone and he said the 3.5' model flows in excess of 600cfm. :spoton:

well then you buy it, I dont care if you buy into it or not, its your money, I dont sell them to make money, I supply them to ppl who want to go fast, its great that the ppl who sell you what they supply can give you these lovely figures.. lol

If you knew anything about flow you would know that ppl who sell a product will always inflate there flow figures, The ones I got from the usa stated they flowed 500 cfm... what a shock when they only flowed 300 odd. I dont care if you listen to me or not, like I said im not here to sell you a converter, look up smb and get one if you want one, I use them as I have tested them on the dyno and the flow bench. Buy what you like.. I know I would. Im just not one that buys things or recommends them because I get a better mark up on them.

But hey you have a pretty block graph that says his flow 500 so you must be right, I just have a flow bench worth over 30000 dollars to test things on, what would I know

You could have saved the $3k and testing time by listeneing to me the first time :spit::laughing:

Simon, the material used inside the cat may be different hence have better flow characteristics. If it's 100 cpsi it'll flow better than the SMB @ 200 cpsi. Downside is you need 200 cpsi to pass emissions.

Downside to the 4" SMB is ground clearance. It hangs down a good 30mm lower than factory. My suspension is stock, and the cat scrapes on kerbs and speed humps if your not carefull.

I would recommend twin cats of any description to anyone with lowered suspension.

Also, If the twin cat pipework is extended down the back, there is a more efficient flow and better cooling with twin pipes over a big single.

What's a 3.5" piece of pipe flow?? anyone??

instead of being a smart ass, you could have read my post properly and realised I WASNT saying your facts were bs at all! im simply saying why would a company who has obviously tested this product need to inflate figures? especially when I looked right into the metal cat before I bought it and on numerous websites all over the world I found that they flow more than 550cfm on DIFFERENT graphs not just my supplied "sh*tty block graph".

want to pay a fortune for a SMB? go ahead. I for one am one of them people who like to hunt for cheaper alternatives that will suffice my needs, sorry if I cant write my mods off on tax like others out there...

nobody is going to want to mofidy their cars at all soon if tuners dont stop acting like pricks to US, the customers...
