haha @ Cro...

SavageD - that kit has pretty much everything you want.. you defo need the claybar, car wash and the Z2 Pro... the ultra gloss spray, ZFX accelerator is also good but not essential..

I went about 6 months without repolishing my 350Z after putting 3 layers of Zaino on it and the water was still beading as though it had been polished with cheaper polish a week ago .. if that makes sense??

If you do it properly, and claybar the fook out of it the 1st time, it will last for aaaageess.. id recommend washing whenever it needs it, and polishing every 2 - 3 months and it will look schmick the whole time..

dirt comes off hella easily as well on a zaino'd car..

Sweet. Thanks dude :spoton:

18 months, never been polished, not a mark on it.

How do I do it? My car never comes out in daylight (very very rarely) all night time stuff. And doesn't get driven 5 days a week.

hehe yeh Mac Daddy, it is good stuff !!! make sure you claybar it thoroughly though and keep the paint nice and lubed up while your barring it - now that's a terrible sounding sentence mwahaha..

I cant remember if they include intructions but these are the steps I follow ;

1. Wash car thoroughly with morning fresh/dawn/any dishwashing liquid

- this removes most road grime, previous polish layers, sap etc

2. Claybar the car 1 panel at a time, rinsing each panel thoroughly afterwards.. run fingers along paint to check for rough/missed patches..

- I reckon this is the most important step because it makes the paint as smooth as glass therefore polish creates more of a pure flat mirror surface and dirt doesnt stick as easily. I also do the glass after ive finished all painted surfaces

3. Wash car Ultra thoroughly with Zaino Carwash and then towel or chamois dry.

4. Once car is dry check for any dirt/clay/sap that could have been missed and remove as necessary.

5. apply Z2 Pro polish thinly and evenly and ensure you cover every bit of paint.. ive missed little bits before and it really shows up

6. leave it for 45-60mins or so then buff off gently with soft dry microfibre towel

7. spray with ultra gloss enhancer, and apply 2nd coat of Z2 straight away if using ZFX, or wait 4 hours if not using ZFX

Oh yeh and the whole time u are doing it, try to keep the car in a non-windy shady spot, anywhere where dust or sand cant blow on it..

It is a time consuming process but looks amazing once done..

I used to wash and polish my GF's car with Meguires and it looked good for about a week or so, then started getting dirty again.. I did hers with Zaino about 4 weeks ago and it still looks twice as good and looks freshly polished!!

Wow - thanks for the tips. Must print out

My car is only a month old - but I really want to get into this gear too and get it up to perfection and get it sealed.

That Waxit site is great - but I get confused by so many quality products - I didn't see the Zaino Premium pack either...must look again.

I actually love polishing my car and to now have a colour that will really give me some feedback and results - Bionic - (my EF is white and although I got it to shine - it never had a real depth to it) - I want to start the process.

I've never clayed before so it's a bit daunting - fear of the unknown I guess - but I'm up for it!

Does anybody know if Ford truck or rail our cars from over East to here in the West?

The time in between coats sucks a bit - I'm not a patient man and would like to keep working until the job is done.

Without accelerator doing a 3 coat process could very easily turn into a full weekend job.....I'll have to apply some of the "oil change" thread's principles. Wash - drink beer - polish - drink beer for 4 hours - polish - drink beer for 4 hours...LOL - no that would be a messy weekend.

You dont have to do all 3 straight away.. I usually do 1 the first time then another during the week and another the following weekend - with a wash beforehand of course.. that's when I dont use the ZFX but my last kit did so now I do all at once hehe

Alright, another question - When should you remove a previous wax job, and what with?

I've always just waxed/whatever once every 3 months, washed every week (maybe two) in between. Never actually 'removed' any wax job, just assumed my 3 month strategy would keep enough polish/wax on the car to protect it at least a bit.

What do professional dudes use to 'seal' a new car anyway? The paranoid part of me likes the idea of getting a pro protection job as the initial start to the life of a new cars paint, thereafter to be followed up by my (questionable) detailing skillz :tease:

I dont want ot hurt my upcoming new phoon with too much of the wrong kinda love though if you get my meaning.

Pro protection job at the start, then me thereafter? Who should I talk to for a good initial pro job anyway? I'm not paying my dealer the $450 they ask for their unknown version of 'paint protection' :nono:

Thoughts?

I'm definately down with this zaino stuff though, sexy is sexy.

Hey savageD, just use a good dishwashing liquid in step 1 and that should remove *most* previous layers of polish etc.. maybe wash twice to be sure..

Ive had the paint protection stuff before, and the Zaino shiits all over it !!!
