as to the orange flag yes iturned it to orange and pop comes the info box!

read the info box this is what I'm talking about!!!

Nick, while there is not a specific help box on that setting,

dw.... well what poped up then tell me? looks to me it says the function on my software was not enabled??? but I might be seeing things???

the switch system is intuitive and based on commonsense. I.e. a value of '1' means ACTIVE, and a value of '0' means INACTIVE as clearly pointed out on other menu selections such as Torque_Module_switch and Variable_cam_switch. This is fundamental binary logic.

dw....correct

By setting knock_sensor_disable_switch to '1' you have in fact told the pcm knock_sensor_disable = ACTIVE and quite literally turned the knock sensors off. Let me repeat and I will say this one more time and very clearly....

THE KNOCK SENSORS ARE ENABLED IN ALL 4.0 LITRE TURBO ENGINE FACTORY PROGRAMS

dw....well I repeat the above the function may have apeared to be on but made no difference and only gave me the first 4 cylinders not the whole 8 in the new menu that I got from barry even now some are not complete menu's!!!

switching it off gave me the function of showing you the pop up screen!!!

The only time they are disabled Nick is when you have GONE INTO THE SOFTWARE AND MANUALLY DISABLED THE KNOCK SENSORS for whatever reason you have decided. I would strongly advise against this for any customer tune for road applications where different quality fuels may be involved. This can lead to extreme detonation/pinging under different fuel quality/atmospheric conditions and can very quickly destroy an engine.

dw....there has never been access for me to turn it off martin or adjust it for that matter till now!!!!

anyway barry was able to load his version 2.8.1.4 and it works in most instances now and all if I want to only use knock_gains on 4 cylinders only!!!

this is code specific though so now I look at the code for the knock table functions before I create new ones!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I would also be wise to suggest that you be very careful adjusting knock sensor gains. These are calibrated by the factory engineers using specialist pressure transducers, and determine what the engine thinks is and isnt detonation or knock. Tinkering with these tables without the right lab quality equipment is akin to flying blind.

dw....trust me I'm not as stupid as you think

just like when you said we only created the transmission shift tables yesterday? while I'd done trans shift mods for months!!!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

STOP THE CRAP BE HONEST AND GIVE US ALL A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD AND STOP TRYING TO COHEARSE CUSTOMERS AWAY FROM ME BEHIND MY BACK!!!!

WHAT YOU THINK THE CUSTOMERS WOULD NOT TELL ME????

Nick I dont want your customers. I dont tune cars for a living. I have indeed helped out one individual, but you dont want me to go into that here. Nor do I want to.

Every single point you have raised in this thread about the operation of the software has been totally incorrect. I really hope you do in fact know better. All I want is for you to show a duty of care, and to stop spreading misinformation about the way our software works.

Other than that, do what you want.

martin I dont wish to discredit capa sct or you!!!!

you are my only chanel to sct and instead of seeing facts that the software in my case was malfunctioning / has failed me as you installed it

but now functions much better with less glitches as barry installed it

you choose to ignore, discredit, and simply harm yourself and capa as a result!!!

maybe you don't tune any longer but that did not stop you pushing the services of others did it?

I have less than half a doz incompleted issues mostly due to outside influences or software limitations but when you ratio that with satisfied think you will find no equal!!!!

no I'm not the best tuner but I am the most caring!!!!!

I must say I have found this thread and few like it recently as deteriating to pathetic state.

Nick is not a software expert, he is a tuner, and one who tries very hard.

He seemed to me to be describing what happened under two different installs of the SCT software.

Working in software we often see the effect of incomplete or errored installs or upgrades that do not fully do their job.

Often the software acts in ways we have never seen but you dont discount the user before fully investigating the issue.

He probably should remove it all and install again to ensure it is set up correctly but that would assume he has the time.

I think if we had a bit less of the attempts to undermine people and a bit more listening to what is being said or written (street Tuner and others) we would all benefit more from the experience.

Nick one last time. READ THE SCREEN YOU WERE MISSING A WINDOWS HELP FILE. This had no bearing on the software or the way it worked.....I installed the G revision database on your machine at the Melbourne training course two months ago. It was current then, generated that day. CAPA emails all its dealers to FTP down the latest databases as soon as they are released, which is why Barry had J revision when you were in Perth. In some cases - as you are no doubt aware - we upgrade the database twice a week. If you are not on the dealer email list then please contact CAPA. Its one phone call away.

you choose to ignore, discredit, and simply harm yourself and capa as a result!!!

You have NEVER contacted me about a database upgrade.

maybe you don't tune any longer but that did not stop you pushing the services of others did it?

I do some tuning still - to keep current, and to fix 'issues' that others create - but once more NEVER have I told one of your customers to see someone else, other than in the case of an SA customer, whom I told to come to me.

I dont care about your external influences. All I ask, and have always asked is that you present the product in a truthful and factual light. If there is a legitimate problem then let me know, but to suggest that the knock sensing of the system didnt work because a Windows help file is missing is plain stupid. I cant explain it any other way.
