Dont be confused Bugster, you are on the correct track here.

In standard configuration (ie no mods to the way the knock control system works) an XR6T can remove up to 12 degrees ignition timing in a single hit when it senses pinging. So, unless the XR6T is 12 degrees over advanced for a given rev/load point you are correct in assuming you should never hear it 'ping'

Hi Martin, (and please only Martin answer this one - thanks guys)

Given that you said above one should never audibly hear an engine 'ping', what does it mean if one CAN indeed hear it pinging? Does this mean the knock control is inactive? or possibly something else?

Facts: dynowog's has cars pinging all over Aust has fed us bull :pooh:  since the days he claimed 330 rwklw with std injectors,valve springs and cooler yet cant make even 300 rwklw with bigger injectors cooler and valve springs and has constantly talked him self up and not a decent time to back up anything,yet has the hide to butt heads with a guy(tuner) who actually knows what the product can and cant do

Completely agree with this statement. If DW thinks he can get 300+RWKW on stock injectors then god knows what else he is getting wrong/half wrong/misinterpreted.

I state again that DW seems like a great guy who bends backwards for his customers. DW gets a 10/10 for service and 10/10 for being a nice guy and people are happy with him because of this. You dont need to be a brain surgeon to tune a car but fundamentally I think you do need to know that 300rwkw cannot be produced on stock T injectors just to be recognised as a competent Tuner.

DW, I am not having a go at you either. I am doing my best not to be critical. But misinformation must be corrected at all cost.

DW, if he doesnt belive the stock injectors flow to 300rwkw, its upto you if you want to post up a pic of my dyno sheet from boostworx. should shut a few mouths up!

or mr turbotrana you could ask one of the 15 witnesses that seen it happen :spoton:
