Well there's two of those spring clamps in place, its possible that is a safety point but I would doubt it... then it means dirty air can enter the engine.

I think those two clamps are there for a good reason. These two joints is where most temperature variation occurs. The spring clamps keep tension with the expansion/contraction of hot/cold. If you dont change them though you are still going to blow hoses off at 8-10psi. What do typhoons have in these locations?

I have seen some T's now that have the basic screw clamps down near the battery from stock. a mates did when we were doing his wog cooler, it was definately factory cuz it had that stupid white paint line across it and the hose. I was surprised!

I had to replace the spring type ones on mine when running my generic tunes, I kept blowing the one off near the battery when on the 10psi map.

now I constantly blow the big t-bolt clamp off the inlet side of my cooler!!! but that's another story..
