I didn't think the edit did anything to your idle though. Can't be good for the turbo boosting at startup, without circulating oil..... Try putting the clutch in and out both in and out of gear. I have not got the edit. Only does it on cold starts right??? My factory (ie. pre-Edit) tune did this and revved to around the 2200rpm mark. I then loaded some generic CAPA tunes in and, whilst it still did this, it didn't rev quite as high. I then had a 12psi map from Xtreme and the car started 'normally' with no rev surge at all. Now that I have custom tunes in, the surge is back. But yes, only happens on cold start ups and only lasts a very short while. I agree it's a bit disconcerting to have the engine rev like that when it's cold and starved of oil, but I don't think there's too much I can do about right now and I try to tell myself it must be okay 'cos that's what the factory map was doing anyway! If it setup the same as the TB on the VR4, there is a wax pellet which opens up a bypass letting air into the TB bypassing the butterfly. When it warms up it melts and closes the valve. Sometimes it doesn't solidify in the right way and leaves the bypass open too far causing it to idle too high.If it is setup differently then I dont really know... must be an ECU confusion. I get it regularly with my stock T when starting and driving out of the car park in first, put the clutch in and she idles over 2 grand for a while. It usually drops after a few seconds but so I dont think it's gonna do much damage. Street Tuner Member 727 Member For: 22y 3m 28d Posted 04/11/05 08:36 PM Share Posted 04/11/05 08:36 PM This start up flare is easily controlled (increased or decreased) by a competent Edit Tuner. There is a single table that controls the amount of extra air ingested on start up, and when modified, can give almost any desired result.
