fill Member 127 Member For: 19y 5m 3d Location: Sydney Posted 02/11/05 02:09 AM Share Posted 02/11/05 02:09 AM I have been inspecting a 2005 MKII the last couple of days to purchase. The car is an auto with leather, tint, mudflaps, premium auto, and matt's. It has just over 8000 km's on the clock. It has been custom tuned with the Cappa edit by Intune auto castle hill and includes the unit with the sale. It also has the thermostat upgrade. The dyno has shown 252 rwkw after being tuned. The car looks to be in near perfect condition. The seller has agreed to sell for $36,500.A) What do you think of the price?B) What do you think of the resale value of this car 18 months from now? Would I be better off buying a new car if I plan on reselling in 18 months?C) Should I be negotiating the price a bit more? He was asking 36,900 without the Edit?D) Should I be worried about the mod's this person has performed? All of your feedback is much appreciated. For your info, I plan on building the car up from here to around 300 rwkw and selling it in 18 months when I am moving overseas. pelican Pelican Member 141 Member For: 19y 5m 26d Location: Gold Coast Posted 02/11/05 02:34 AM Share Posted 02/11/05 02:34 AM I'm no expert, but it sounds overpriced to me....I got a MkII runout with 70km on the clock for 34800....... The Flash is 1k, plus dyno time, so, do the math......Personally, I'd prefer to get a runout T, then do your own mods.... at least you then know exactly what has been done, by yourself.....Each to his own though....... Maybe you should get it sussed out by a mechanic that regularly services XR6Ts (I suspect Ford don't provide such a service). Also, hearing the hype so far on the BF, I'd wait for another 1-2 months and see what the motor mag reviewers and this forum have to say about the BF XR6T because I think the prices of 2nd hand and new BA Mk IIs will drop dramatically in price as people will want the BF more than the BA.BF XR6T has- slightly more power- more torque (30Nm more than the BA)- superior auto 6 speed transmission (clunking in the BA)- better brakes (brake shudder in the BA) - better chassis structural rigidity (though your 2005 might have that if it was near last of the line assembly)- better sound proofing- better fuel economy (due to the new 6 speed transmision)- easier to sell later I suspect because of better resell valueBut if your heart is set on a BA because of its looks, then it might pay to wait 6 months to give a chance for other BA owners to start putting theirs on the market to trade up to the BF, that way the prices will fall much more. Finally, I reckon Ford might be able to do a good deal on brand new 2005 BA Mk II right now because they can't move them as well as the BF. Maybe end of Nov is the best time to start shopping for a 2005 BA Mk II from Ford (end of Dec everyone is on holidays and sales targets will be lower for sales reps). My thoughts anyway...
