The same applys to torque levels. With stock auto's (oil cooler) in real terms what is gained in driving pleasure by going from 650nm to 800nm or even 800nm to 1000nm.I know some would say you can never have enough rwkw / nm however that's not the case for all of us. Lets face it by most peoples standards driving a 1800kg car with 240rwkw that loses traction in 1st and 2nd in a straight line on a dry rd is already beyond comprehension.Slightly off topic I know but I'm interested in yours and others thoughts on this.SteveAll I can say, is ...my everyday map restored the bottom end grunt that I lost with the torque converter mods (2800 stall)Whereas the stocky XR6T auto has exceptional get up and go from idle, I lost so much responsiveness due to the torque converter.Ph2 did NOT provide sufficient torque to get it running well.Ph2 + IC + fuel pump still with Unichip did NOT get the (heavy) ute launching well. The EDIT has resolved my issues with getting off the line strong. My everyday map has similar low down grunt (torque) to my race map.It is more than enough to scare the bejeebers out of me (especially if its a cold morning).... and I treat the car with absolute respect in the wet.You are right in that you don't need high power for street appeal.Low down torque (to 4000 rpm) and throttle response is where it all makes a difference on the street. And it must be without surges and splutters. The car is quick on the everyday map.The race map is absolutely mind blowing. The car launches similarly...... but the power comes on so strong and keeps pulling all the way to 6000. I have NEVER EVER had a car as good as this.Have I spent too much in my quest? probablyAm I Happy? You bet I am.

Interesting commentsCode .... how do you assess the code? From what I've seen Edit changes are related to table parameters and scaling factorsUsability ... yes, it's a must; you have to know what you're doingUnichip with higher resolution ....Not from what I have seen, as Unichip mapping points are very limiting; but easier to change laptop settings for the Unichip compared with the slow download/upload Edit process.Edit has vastly many more tuning features than Unichip. Edit definitelyrequires a very good knowledge from the tuner, especially how the various table paremeters interrelate. We actually have 3 combintions:Edit vs Unichip vs Edit+UnichipMy understanding is that at higher power levels Unichip bending signals will modify cam settings so not to produce optimum power, so it can work against you.Brian

I have nothing against the APS product and at lower power levels the Unichip is a great product, but in my own experience at power levels about 300 rwkw the edit gives me greater performance more consistantly than the Unichip did. Posted 01/11/05 03:21 AM Share Posted 01/11/05 03:21 AM I'm probably one of the few people to have experienced unichip, Xede and edit and combinations of the above. I'm also able to use 1/4 mile times and mph to illistrate my experience, all of which are on street tyres. My original car had Xede only, tuned by HPF, while great had a best of 12.24@115mph. At the time it was one of the quickest cars around. Cars with similar mods are now running 11.5@120 with edit only.My current car originally had a Unichip tuned by Autotech in Sydney, posibly the best Unichip tuner in Aust. The car seemed to lack a little down low and after previous conversations with Deano and comparing my other car to his I believe that APS may tune in less power down low to provide more protection and add longevity to the cars. This is not nessecarily a bad thing. I had the Unichip removed and replaced by my old Xede tuned by HPF. The car had alot more power down low which I liked. With this change alone the car went from running mid 12's for Jeff in Sydney to running 11.9 at Calder. I thought the car was awesome. After some other minor mods I managed to get the car running 11.5@123mph this was one of the quickest at the time. I have since had the edit put on my car and I have different combinations of maps. My current combination for racing is mainly edit (possibly all). This has run a best of 10.68@128mph. The only difference between my car now with the 10.6 and before with the 11.5 is the tune and software to do it. It was all Xede and now its edit.I believe that the piggybacks maybe able to generate similar max power figures as the edit. At the recent AME show Karmens "T" generated the same power figure as mine but in a totally different way. His car is alot more modded than mine with bigger turbo and external waste gate to name a few parts. Where as my graph goes straight up and then straight accross Karmens spends alot more time getting to peak power and spends less time there. Here is my chart. The edit will get more out of what ever mods you have. The piggybacks will still generate good numbers and give people fast cars. The edit will take these cars to the next level in performance and drivability. This all depends on the tuners aswell. Both need good tuners to get the best out of them. A well tuned piggyback car will be better than a poorly tuned Edit car. These are only my opinions but I have proved these results to myself on the track to support them so that I believe them.Geea. (The springs may never have even needed to be done, but were changed for insurance)I believe that edit offers oustanding power for the dollar spent:$3000 of mods, 257rwkw's and a 12.55 et.Equivalent performance from an APS system would require atleast Phase 2.I love it

That is your race tune/setup?Do you have one for your everyday tune/setup?On topic, I have only ever had the edit so I cannot contribute to the comparison, but await with interest Dingah's fedback from the edit only solution. I don't actually have a graph of my current road tune, I think HPF must not buy alot of paper or ink or something. My last road graph was from my 330rwkw map, I'll try to find it.Geea. Posted 01/11/05 05:08 AM Share Posted 01/11/05 05:08 AM The Autotech car looks to have 30rwhp more than mine. My car runs 128-129mph. This car should be able to run over 130mph with a mid 10. Some dyno's can read a little happy, I'll be keen to see what sort of times and mph this car can run. I think it would be good if Autotech can back up there dyno numbers with a good ET and MPH.The AME dyno reading for my car is very independant and is within 3rwkw's of what Rob @ HPF told me I had.Geea.
