Not alot of room over there ( Japan ) and small houses and cars are the norm.. Over here, lots of room, BIG lard ass cars... V8 'Aussie' mentality..The yanks are teh same, BIGGERR lard ass TRUCKS and SUV's. etc etc, they love everything big... DIfferent strokes for different folks, and it's all down to Culture. The odd throwback helps keep the balance..Personally, I'm an aussie, drive a Ute, but will get an evo next....

Joke! <- for the literaly inclined.....I work with over 100 Viet's and there's only a few that drive Fords or Holdens but then not all the Aussies, Greeks, Italians, Serbs, Croats, Turks, Poms, Etc at work drive them predominately either. It's just a matter of choice realy......

AU Forte's as taxis huh??? they were all little Mercedes when I was in Honkers. Dunno about all Jap cars....would love to own a Honda NSX, had a Toyota Supra, very nice car, stuck to the road like sh!t ot a blanket but have to agree, no comparison to big displacement and lots of torque. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>haha sure it was hong kong?? we've been running the toyota crown, and some sorta nissan (called the cedric I believe?) as taxis for as long as I can remember! The AUs didnt sell well - they were a lot bigger than the average taxi (in wagon form and all taht), and although had a LOT more power (the toyota taxis have a whole whopping 54kW!), probably lost out in terms of fuel economy. There are some japanese cars that I have nothing against; the supra being one of em, but its just not something that id own. like you said, can't beat having the displacement and torque!f6 ute's right - space is limited over on this part of the earth, hence small cars and small appartments are generally the norm - still get a buncha sunday drivers who drive big benz S-classes and reckon theyre the king of the road though!shoulda seen the face on my parents when I told em I wanted a falcon and the I6 was "only 4.0L" They havn't figured out that ford offers it in a V8, and heaven forbid they find out I want a 351!
