Hmmm thanks for that I stand corrected. Logically the NA would be a better user of the 6 speed, with the torque characteristics of the T there is absolutely no logical reason for a 6 speed auto other than to keep up with the Jones's.

Isn't 2500 revs in an Auto T about 130km/h? :fool:

Lumpy

Hi all,

Been a while off here but thought I would chime in on this one.

Got to drive a BF XR8 with the ZF 6 speed auto around sandown the other week.

My findings:

- V8 sounds great

- That bulge looks big from inside

- I honestly felt that my stock XR6T was faster

- I liked the look and feel of the auto shifter, its like a short shift - when you flick it to the left it doesnt end up far over on an angle like the 4 speed. It's cool how the drive letters light up red too. BUT - hammering the car around the course - the shifts between gears were TERRIBLE. My 4spd T shifts really short and sharp, no hesitation. The 6spd hesitated between gears, and you could feel yourself slow down before it changed up a gear. It did not feel solid, sharp or sporty like my 4spd.

I dont know if I just got a bad one - but I didnt like it. Or maybe it was because it was the V8, I dont know. Didnt get a chance to drive the BF XR6T there so couldnt compare - but was happy to get back in my T to drive home.

Cheers

Michael.

Your report is the first negative one l have read which is good, if this box was as good as l have read everywhere it would be a miracle. Wonder why you found it so bad though? Could have been a bad one, doesnt seem like a step forward if that's how it performs in manual mode.

Was that actually in manual mode or just in "D"? The 8's are a different beast to the T's with an auto, but for someone to say that it was terrible doesn't instill much faith.
