Wish I had just out of curiosity, but still would have bought the Phoon.

Guest Guests Posted 29/10/05 11:37 AM Share Posted 29/10/05 11:37 AM Why the 'T'Because it was time to take the fight to the 'Imports' and the brigade of 1.5ltr Lancers and Honda Civics, with cutout Milo tin exhaust tips, chrome spinners and glow lights underneath! I first saw when moving to Sydney over a year ago.I was amazed...how many people actually believed their Lancer or Civic, with the huge 15' inch sub pumpin, all the way down Brighton Le-Sands, thought they were of a higher status.THe BA XR6T had the look I love, low and wide bulldog t stance, , and it's ype, it's body being more streamline unlike the VY SS that is too angular (which was going to be my second choice)With good reviews, and various companies already offering performance upgrades, I walked away with a April 04, XR6T Ute, Leather Big shinny knob FPV Steering Wheel 6 Disc Changer Lockable hard lid Upgraded vehicle security systemTinted WindowsFor $37500.18 months later, I still love the old girl, wish I'd have waited (or knew) for the MK2, and looked into the vehicles downfalls. The main thing I think lets the ute down is it's overall build quality! Trim falling off, clunky and groaning at times, skirting coming loose, rattles from various places, and all not covered under warranty! Why the hell is that?Do other companies have similar exclusions in what they will and won't cover???Like I said, love the ute even to this day, but next time research the bad points, not just the good!Darren'fending off the lancer, beating off the civics! Posted 29/10/05 01:10 PM Share Posted 29/10/05 01:10 PM My first post as a Ford owner... But have to post here in this one, my last car was a HSV Senator 215i... and all it took was one drive of a stock XR6 Turbo and I had to have one, can't imagine what a boosted one is like The only problem is all of my mates have nicknamed me 'Lowndesy' because I have switched from Expensive Daewoo to Ford Though I can deal with that because I am now I waking up before my alarm clock for work and look forward to the end of work each day and basically any other time of the day when I get to drive my new car So much fun I also drove it in the wet tonight for the 1st time coming home from the AME show in Melbourne and compared to my Senator what a handful... gotta love it can't even begin to imagine what XRTWPN and GEEA33 would be like to drive in these conditions though I have already been down to see the boys at HPF... so hopefully I will know soon to some degree :)Anyway I am Jack and I am 'gulp' a proud FORD owner Jack
69ADY Member 85 Member For: 19y 5m 7d Location: Sunny Coast, Qld Posted 29/10/05 03:02 PM Share Posted 29/10/05 03:02 PM First of all, got my 'T' secondhand. Was put onto it by a mate after reading articles and showing some interest. Had a Sportivo v6 man at the time and was looking for something with more punch as the camry was getting higher in the fuel consumption race (9.5l/100 up to 11.5-12.0l/100 after 25000k's), also torque was down on similar size v6's (3.0l). The 'T' was an awesome powered family car option and also looks the ducks guts to boot..... the final nail in the camry's coffin was that the 'T' seems to hold it's value better as well , the Camry dropped by (GET THIS), $16,000 in value in 12 months. My 'T', dropped by what worked out to be @ $11,000 over 2 years.Mod's that can be done, also now have an impact on the way I feel about the falc...Hope that gives you a small insight Adrian

I needed room for the family 3 older kids and a wife (I had one then lols) I wanted something with a sporty look so I considered a rallyart magna and a T. Took the T for a drive and absolutely loved it. Then I went straight to the Mitsubishi dealer to take the magna for a run... no comparison. Rang the dealer next day & changed. Never been happier, especially when I watched in my mirror a 373kw M5 unable to catch me. LOL
