nang,

I bought the hotdogs and pipes (not mandrel bent) from a forum member for $250 and it cost me $60 to have them fitted. The guy who fit them thought I paid too much as hotdogs are about $60 each. Whether he would have charged that if he had supplied and fitted I'll never know. Bottom line, just ring about five shops and get quotes. Don't ask advice or recommendations cause they will all have different opinions and it will just screw your mind.

I thought the rear (muffler) was a resonator.

Resonators are typically smaller than mufflers and are a straight through design to soak the initial noise and vibration (resonance) out of the exhaust. They don't have the sound absorption capacity of larger mufflers. Usually, only smaller four cylinder cars have these resonators and the muffler at the back quells the majority of the noise.

Went down to have my center muffler removed and some hot dogs put in. The guy in the exhaust shop told me that he ad done one a little while back and it sounded like sh*t. So I did not get it done.

Went to another place and they went to sell me an awesome system, which would have rocked, but Ford not to mention my missus would have had a hissy fit.

Spoke to another guy and he suggested a four inch pipe betwen the cat and the rear muffler. According to Venturi's second law this should give an awsome sound at heavy throttle and quieter on steady throttle.

I am still baffled as to how removing either a muffler or a resonator will result in less power - unless the lack of backpressure alters how a tune works, in which case the tune needs a tickle up rather than the muffler or resonator making more power by being there.

I had mine done a week or so ago, and the car lost about 1-1.5psi, and felt definately slower. :kissmy:

It sounded awesome though so I left it, cause the car was booked in for a wog tickle on thursday anyway! :censored:

Mine is just 2 straight through 2.5" pipes...

Cost $99
