I've had my BF XR6T for anout 5 days now (done about 320km). One thing I've noticed with the ZF gearbox, is if you leave it in Adaptive mode and get off the brakes onto the throttle quickly, it kind of hesitates a fraction of a second. Doesn't seem to do this in Performance mode though.

Fit and finish is fair, my glovebox is rubbing on the kick panel trim though. Paint is not too bad, apart from the scratch in the base coat (so you can't feel it, but you can see it) on the boot lid and a small scratch on the rear quarter panel under where the spoiler wraps over, in the clear coat.

I've already bottomed the car out going a little too quick through a dip as the road went uphill.

Hi loopism,

I'd get Ford to replace the glovebox lid or have them look at your kick panel because on my BF XR6T, it does not scrape.

Two days ago, throttle stopped responding whilst travelling at 100km/h and the ETC light came on.  I'm going to take it in to Ford to see what they say about it as the manual says it's a serious fault but does not say much more than get it to Ford as soon as possible if the light persists.  My ETC light went away after I turned off the engine and back on again, but it was damn unnerving (not the least to say dangerous) travelling at 100km/h in the centre lane of the South Eastern Freeway and suddenly having no throttle response whatsoever  :stirthepot:

Also, I think my rear suspension bolts are working loose again or something is because I hear this sort of rattling noise coming from the rear.  Last time I mentioned the noise at my 3,000km service, Ford said they tighted the rear suspension bolts and the noise went away immediately after that service.

Well, I'm reporting in with an update to the above.

Ford couldn't find any evidence that the ETC light had come on. Nothing in the PCM error codes log. They also said they could not force it to come on or saw it come on during a test drive of the car. So, nothing was done about it. I just hope I don't see it come on again, because, man, it was unnerving. Imagine yourself doing 100km/h and suddenly you don't have any throttle control to accelerate anymore until you bring the car to a halt and turn off the ignition  That's exactly what happened to me. Thank goodness I had 3 lanes of same direction traffic on a freeway at the time and alot of considerate drivers around me to let me slip into the emergency lane safely (after I put my hazard lights on).

That noise in the back was the boot lever release cable come loose from the velcro that normally holds it in place. I think I read somewhere that it is a common issue along the lines of "like has anyone ever got their boot release cable to stay velcroed to the boot lid?" The tapping of it annoyed the hell out of me because I knew it did not used to be there and I was left wondering was it something serious or not (like was it a prelude to something working loose and eventually a major fault would occur).

Well, 5 months in and I've got really really bad clunking as I turn the steering wheel whilst parking. Let an attractive colleague drive my car today and she said "What's that noise?" as she parked it. Hard to believe that for $48k+ a virtually brand new car has clunking steering. I've had far less expensive cars before my XR6s and none of them have had this. I intend to have this looked into, because it's much worse than the steering clunking in my previous BA XR6.

On the bright side, I've got 2 1/2 times the power and probably 4 1/2 times the torque now compared my early cars - and the XR6T looks heaps better :sleepystuff:

I would have thought the bright side is you have a car that attractive colleages want to drive. Probably a bit to much information there.

Ford allegedly just tightened the screws all round in the front. With Loktite. I asked where specifically and my recollection is that the service gentleman was not forthcoming with any specific location.

Well, after the service, the steering has been quiet now which is very pleasing. So well done Ford. Just like I remember when I got it new. Except just once today when I heard one clunk today, but I'm hoping it's not going to be endemic like it was before they serviced the T.

The oil leak on my driveway was allegedly due to the intercooler leaking oil. Apparently, you can only allegedly do so much because it will always allegedly leak a little bit.

Mate, if your intercooler has oil in it I'd be getting it checked out, pronto!

Was wondering if the service gentleman was bull :sleepystuff: me.

I'll give Ford another call about it if I still see oil on the driveway. Haven't noticed it really much since the service, but I'll clean the driveway and see if any new spots appear.
