The mad man tune will kill the box. The time taken for this to occur will depend mainly on driving style and circumstances.

I agree with you that you should get the tune since Nick is already working on the car, but ask for more conservative tunes in the other slots.

What will happen though, is that you'll enjoy the tough tune's drivability so much, that you'll rarely take it out. And that's where the gearbox issue comes in......

Hmm, but I'd be looking at around $1200+ to strengthen the box properly, yeah? Sigh, what to do, what to do. No way I'd get approval to spend that from the Minister for Finance. :idunno:

How much benefit do you think I'd get from just fitting a tranny cooler?

Ive been running the T5 with 303rwkw and approx 790nm torque (according to dyno, I know there is the whole tractive effort issue etc) for approx 30000km now. Not problems and I definately do not baby the car.

Perhaps I was lucky with a good box, but I have had no problems.
