so when fitting an aftermarket bov, which vents to the atmosphere do they or do they not block the return back into the inlet track?

They do, and that's why you would be stupid to purchase one unless running alot of boost, in which case you want the air to be sucked through the turbo 100% of the time in order to keep it spinning somewhat...

Appart from making alot of useless noise, and sapping more fuel, its simply useless doing anything to the BOV under 300rwkw, like JB said.

Wow I did'nt know BOV's could be such a touch subject!!

Neither did I mate, neither did I!!

Actually, I was thinking about what I said, basically 'cos I think that Bain's the first person in my 800 odd posts so far that I've actually p1ssed off. I'm not an antagonistic person by nature and I guess I felt bad that I might have offended some members out there by what I said. It wasn't meant as an insult, just an expression of my own (probably outdated) taste. So to Bain and all the other loud BOV loving T owners out there, my unequivocal apologies if my comments have upset or offended you. Vive la difference I say!! :spoton:

Give it away Buggy, that sort of outburst does not warrant any form of response, let alone an apology. By now he might be getting the drift that the suggestion is technically wrong, unnecessary and produces unwanted side effects best left to a section of the motoring (and heaven forbid Ford) community that might be better served by a 200SX with neon underbodies!

What have I started here?!

Nah, I'd go driving with you BOV lads any time - at least I'd know that if a copper were gonna pull one of us up for anything, you'd lessen the chances that it'd be me!!:spoton::laughing:

Well I will tell you - one of the very things that many members DONT LIKE about thread hijacking.

An innocent thread - HIJACKED by your personal views about what you think about the sound of BOV's.

NOT RELEVANT!. Start you own Thread if you like e. g "What do you think of the sound of BOV's?". Then post away about if you think they are toss or not!.

this is how to keep the thread on track. Now back to it boys! keep it back to the topic!

Hey bugster70..

I thought you were being sarcastic in your original post (the ending part). I was wrong, so im the one who has to apologise.

So sorry for jumping down your throat.

I agree loud BOV's are wanky.. Quieter ones that can be heard only in the cabin of the car when you change gears at 4000 + rpm are nice. (which is what my current one does) - It releases probably about 40% to atmo and the rest plumbacked.

I dont think that's true. Shouldnt use more fuel because T's dont have air flow meters like alot of japanese rice burners. T's have manifold absolute pressure sensors which dont upset the computer between changes. I wouldnt worry about the standard valve leaking.
