I'll put it on the table now, nice and early.

Headlines we will see next year

"Auto BF Typhoon BFYB champ"

Anyone else?? I mean, what else is there.. Evo 9 will be the only thing to top it, or it will come second.. STI has no major change, it's R spec rubber is the only thing giving it Evo like performance and handling, but I don't think they have their driveline as good as the E9... I honestly think if the BF Typhoon can stay in one piece for the entire testing time, it'll surely come out on top..

It goes, stops and looks the part, hell, it's gotta win..

Any other one-eyed supporters have another badge to put into the mix??

This years BFYB criticised the Fords for not getting throught the corners fast enough.

Help me understand what has changed with the BF Foon?

No change to the Sti? How about the 2.5lt donk and revisions to the DCCD? The Sti and Evo are both going to go harder in a straight line and around a track, the F6 will be up against it in BFYB but it may have a better showing in PCOTY.

l believe the suspension in the FPV's has hardly changed from the BA because the money ran out so dont expect any big gains there :smilielol:

Exactly. The BA has been proven to be pretty woeful at best in the corners

good points..

The change to the DCCD is a revised front LSD providing more fwd push and 2.5 adds a bit of torque ( will this make it more of an understeer'er or will it holds it's guts in? ), but only 45 odd NM more than Evo at 500 rpm higher in the rev range.. So as far as a punchy response, I don't think STI will have it over Evo. 4G63 is renowned for it's torque at low rpm.

Straight line performance quotes are STI @ 5.4 seconds. Pretty line ball with new BF but around corners BF will loose points badly if nothing has changed. I wonder if the test mule will be provided with 19's, this might help a touch with the body roll, and one would hope they have revised the suspension settings a little.

It will loose points on the corners, yes, but will now match STI, Evo and HSV in the straight line stuff, this is where it was predominantly let down in the past.. It always picked up points on HSV in ride and handling aswell.

I may be floging a dead horse, and I would love Evo to win over STI or Porsche etc, but I hope for FPV that the flak they copped over BA F6 will be somewhat erased...

In the end, we all win. Maybe we'll see some better suspension in BF MKII??

5.4 l believe is Subaru's claim, perhaps nearer to 5.0/13.5 is what will be acheived from the Sti. Wait and see l guess, l just dont think the F6 will match either of the Japs in a straight line FWIW.

at the end of the day, all this "one up-manship" between bitsyamisin, subaru, ford and "barely-holden-together" just means we all have tougher cars to go and have fun with which cant be bad.

I agree with mondie though. the f6 is up with a shot of winning pcoty, but the rex or evo are gonna get the bfyb.

I think the BF Auto will be something to reckon with and dont be surprised if its the quickest oz built car to 100kmh when the mags get hold of it and test it.

Power = Yes. Turbo & lots of torque

Brakes = Yes. Brembos STD

Style = Yes.

Acceleration = Yes. Reported 5.3sec 100kmh??????

Tyres = Average Good Dunlop sports

Cornering = average to good.

Interior and seating = Yes

Fuel efficient = Yes...better than the manual 13/100km

Etc

It will put on a good show, but is it going to be good enough?

I don’t know but I would like to think so on paper and I wouldn’t be buying one if I didn’t think it had the credentials to compete at the highest level.

Maybe I’m just bias like you F6 UTE :msm:

hmm being a purely BFYB comp I think the EVO will get it, it is just dripping with technology and will outcorner and outhandle any FPV with similar straight line speed and acceleration..

PCOTY will be a different matter, seeing as the criteria will also include everyday things like comfort etc. that dont necessarily mean top performance
