I got them for $1450ish recently but that was through a mate who worked there.

Jim Mock do the complete kit fully installed for $2800 I think.

Nizpro fitted mine for $250ish so I got out of I real cheap.

Race Brakes in Sydney will do them for a good price but no where near $1500 and then you have to factor in postage which would be a killer to S.A.

I recently got a second hand set of front premium brakes (the rear calipers are the same as stock). I can't recommend this upgrade highly enough, really changed the way the car drives under brakes. I haven't had any shudder or fade since changing the brakes and the steering when braking is so much lighter ( due to the non-warped rotors).

Don't bother machining the stock rotors, they will just warp and shudder again in no time, you wont regret doing this upgrade :beerchug:

O I know how good these things are. Have a mate who tortured a set on the weekend with a BIG 10 minute+ downhillhills run. The footwell started getting warm, then uncomfortably hot to the point of having to move my feet, then when I got out the rotors were glowing orange, like the turbo manifold after a thrashing.

Was insane :spoton:

Now just to pick up a set for a good price!

can anyone tell me if this PDB kit everyone is talking about is any better than a BF set of brakes? other than being only 3mm bigger in diameter, are the calipers any better than BF or are they infact the same?

there is a kit here in NZ for sale pbr kit for a BA (solid rear discs) but are the front calipers suitable for BF? id imagine they need mounting bracktes etc to suit?

im about to buy dba4000 series rotors and ferodo pads that coust more than this kit will to buy so not using the rears (flick em off for a couple of $hundred) would be better option if the calipers are better

Yes, it is quite astounding how effective the system is, and that on a public forum is enough said.

If you are looking to fit a set of these, when it comes to rotors go straight to the DBA5000,s which as an initial purchase are cheaper than original discs. Two piece discs are designed to mitigate heatsoak to the hubs and to prevent coning of the rotors under extreme conditions (your mate may want to consider this).

A nice side effect is that you shave a couple of kilos of rotating unsprung mass by going to the two piece designs.

The cherry on the top of the two piece design is that ongoing replacement cost of the discs are less than half of OEM and even less than the venerable DBA4000 on which the DBA5000 is based. This is a very significant factor in high performance systems...

Both PBR and DBA are world have world wide reputations, the former for uber lightweight braking systems, the latter for uber non ceramic discs.

In short, more thermal capacity, even smoother performace, less spinnng bouncy mass and less cost.

Regards,

aa
