Pbr Brake Upgrade - Who's Done It?

I just replaced mine last week with the same PBR pads. Got em from Repco.

My rotors will last maybe another 20,000k I hope. I coudln't believe how much the rotors chop out.

I don't get as much dust from the new pads as I did from the first set either.

How many k's did you get out of the set?

61000 km, still have my original rotors and pads, only changed the fluid. Would love PBR,s but cannot justify expense. Still no point putting PBR,s on unless you have fantastic tyres, now theres another thread worth reserectting.

Hrmm now that I think about it I probably have gotten about 50 to 70K out of them from installation... pretty happy with that given I did my best to givem a hard time. :)

if you don't mind me asking what did they set you back and what are the codes?

Go and buy some DBA4000's. some decent pads, and save ya self a few grand!

Crap. They don't compare.

When push comes to shove the standard size DBA cant disperse the heat. If things were that simple life would be a lot simpler.

For less than 3k the PBR package is tops!

I use it in my T and anyone who has see me at the track can vouch its take no prisoner type of driving.

The only thing different I use are EBC pads as for hard core track days the standard pads will melt.

Many of my customers use them and even in track days have had no problem.

But don't kid yourself that a set of standard size DBA 4000 which are better than standard rotors no doubt , are as good as the PBR brake package. NO WAY.

Miyagi, sorry mate I don't remember the codes, they're the ones on the pbr website. I got the full kit with the braided lines etc, set me back $2200 I think it was. I just got a full set of front pads from Repco for $120 which I thought was ok. I got quoted $179 everywhere else. I need another set of front rotors now though, and they've done about 30,000 street km and quite a few track days. I think they'll last another 20,000km or so but it means being a little less aggresive on the track.

As for the EBC pads, when I get the new rotors, I'll get a set of EBC's as well.

Did you use a high rated brake fluid.

I know PBR specify their GOLD Dot fluid and that's what was used in mine and Ive never had any signs of fade.

Im about to take the car in for its next service and will be providing them with the gold dot fluid.

What they said...They are excellent value for money. I have yet to experience brake fade. In fact, warm them up and they work better.

You have a couple of options as I see it. Remember that the rear PBR callipers in their kit are the same as the standard callipers but painted red though you get a slotted rotor. Why pay for a new calliper that's the same as yours except red? You can paint it yourself.

You can buy the all the gear required for the front standalone. The C6 calliper, braided lines, braided line bracket from Ford and something like DBA 4000 slotted rotors. I got that stuff for under $1300. So for the rears you could:

1. Fit the Territory rears as they have massive rotors (larger than the front PBR's in fact) and the callipers are larger and at a very reasonable price.

2. Get a slotted rotor for the standard calliper and paint it red.
