It all depends on your usage habits... if you need good solid ping times (for fast gaming) then go with Internode, Westnet they aren't the cheapest but their network is always awesome and everyone praises their support.

If you want bulk downloads then all the other ADSL companies will suit fine.

Jump on Whirlpool and specifically have a review of each ISPs forums to see how the users in general are going.

Keep in mind Whirlpool is often referred to as Whingepool so the best bet is to speak to a few mates with Broadband and go from there, particularly if you will need getting connected.

My proudest moment one month 39 gig down and 12 gig up  :spoton:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That's good considering your speed....

My upps are generally x3 of my down.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You must do web hosting on your connection?

My best month was back in the days of unlimited Telstra cable... when telstra announced they were introducing limits (yes the 'unlimited until you reach a download quota' bs) my housemates and I thought it worthy to protest by trying to download the internet... we managed to do 100GB in a month... many beers was drank in celebration... although at the time, many beers were being drank regularly regardless hehe :spoton:

If you get ADSL or ADSLII, get some HDD space.. you'll find it runs out prety quick.

$69.95 month with fone bundle..

One of my proudest moments...

Download Peak: 30563.66Mb  Download Off Peak: 19795.45Mb  Freetime:  37.61  Total: 50396.73Mb

gees didnt know there was that much porn to download

crap  jokes aside, I'm with telstra aswell but gees 512k is slow, esp after 5 years on it, get atleast 1500 and if u can get adsl 2 is sooo worth it, sigh tassie finally gets broadband over power lines and for a 40 dollar contract, u can only download 20mb, after that its 15c/mb only if the island state got cable

iinet is the best choice for ADSL2 and ADSL2+ if you can get it.

The only problem with ADSL2 is that you must also churn your phone service over to them aswell. That goes for any ISP offering ADSL2 at the moment. However once Telstra offer ADSL2 you might see more ISP's reselling theres, and that's what I'm waiting for. Why? because I don't trust another company other than Telstra to service my phone line.

TElstra Cable is the way to go.

UNCAPPED downstream, and 128 UPstream, most nights I can download at speeds of up to 3MB/sec, but average about 1.5MB/sec.

BUT, these speed are only acheiveable when everyone else in the street on CABLE are offline, all to do with Bandwith sahring and stuff.

DID you know that a 1 inch thick FIBRE OPTIC CABLE can cope with more information than a BUNDLE OF COPPER cables 12CM in diameter, learnt that at Telstra School when I worked for em.
