that's a NSW spec HWY patrol car if it comes with

pbr premium brake package

the mark II chasers also have reverse warning sensors

also have the extra interior reading light and a 17" alloy spare wheel rather than those tight ass black wheel ones

and will also have extra wiring and plugs in engine bay which you will notice near the brake master cylinder.

Guys if your after an ex chaser I would fo to fowles govt auctions in moorebank.you can get 04 models with 40-50kms with the premium brake package for around 25k.Its just a bit difficult trying to find one with an ok paint job as most have dull bonnets and misclelaneous scratches. Dull bonnets would be due to the prolonged periods of time they spend idling the heat build up under the bonnet just cooks the paint.

I don't think it's necessarily an ex-police car. A lot of Govt employees get cars as part of their salary packages and these days can option up a bit to pretty much whatever they want. Most Govt Departments still have requirements that the cars must be Aussie built, but some Departments don't even specify that. One of the senior guys at the Department my wife works for has an Audi A4 as his car and another has a Landcruiser! :crybaby:

I brought an EL xr6 many years ago, an ex cop car. One of the best cars I ever owned. Unmodded it did 245 km/h down ths Stuart Hwy with four blokes in the car. The speed was taken from a GPS not the speedo. It was a fantastic car.

NSW do use the t..

A good way to tell if its an ex cop car is to look for the brake upgrade and the parking sensors. Having both of these are a dead give away. if possible look at the dash near the vol control. You should see a couple of holes in the dash where the radio hooked on.

Also look at the rubber near the B pillar, close to roof line. When the car had roof lights they move this slighly to make room for wires.

I wouldnt say thrashed. They have to be serviced every 10k not 15k. They do look after them.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

your kidding right... I wouldnt ever let my car reach 10,000kms un-serviced!!!

change my oils at MAX every 7500km's.

my T gets spoilt... :spit:

No doubt it has had a full life, its being used in that kind of role and service life isnt an issue for Mr Plod driving the damn thing.. Over here in WA, our wallopers get the full monty SV6, that's right, 190kw of throbbing power complete with flashing lights and striping... Gee, Im impressed...

What had happened over here was a spate of cop deaths, brought about by the introduction of VTII Gen3 powered Commodores, with standard brakes and standard suspension. Indeed, after 6 or 7 deaths, not even whilst in pursuit, the then Police Commisioner decreed that there be no more V8 Police Vehicles. He has since retired but that policy lives on over here. Surprisingly, there have been no more police deaths in car crashes, including pursuits!!

Sure, any decent T will disappear from Plod, its just their communication system and helicopter that may prove harder to shake.. :spoton:
