MRDOHC When in doubt ... Accelerate! Member 440 Member For: 21y 8m 23d Location: Melbourne, Hoppers Xing Posted 10/10/05 11:31 AM Share Posted 10/10/05 11:31 AM With all the price changes lately a manual phoon sounds quite interesting to me at the moment ... a couple of questions ... for the guys with one and especially if you came from the T first... 1. Any issues to look for like the T diff whine etc ? 2. Being FPV have Ford been a little more "helpful" to any warranty issues?3. In stock form can you "feel" the difference in them? 4. Brembo replacement pads ... Can they be bought at a decent price?5. How can you tell if a phoon has had thoses clips that caused all the trouble changed?6. Is the six speed in the MkII T the same as the manual 6 in the phoon?7. Does the phoon respond just as well to mods as the T or are things restricted?8. Do parts for phoons have any "premium" on them moreso than a T? ie. Door handle for a T and Typhoon could be the same but costs extra if you ask for it ?Thanks in advance guys Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/20622-one-for-the-typhonnists/ Share on other sites

Posted 11/10/05 04:25 AM Share Posted 11/10/05 04:25 AM Another lot of quick answers for you, from a 12 month Phon owner after 2 years in a modded T:1. Any issues to look for like the T diff whine etc ? A) The F6 has all the same issues as the T. Diff whilne is a no cost option in many Fords/FPV's2. Being FPV have Ford been a little more "helpful" to any warranty issues?) A Helpfull? Not sure they understand the word. FMC will be getting a dictionary from me for Christmas. Less emotinal answer would be - marginally better3. In stock form can you "feel" the difference in them? A) Yes, absolutely. Much more torque which you feel in the Phoon4. Brembo replacement pads ... Can they be bought at a decent price?A) Yes! Never buy pads from a Ford dealer. If you can stretch the budget to get them the Brembo's are mind blowing.5. How can you tell if a phoon has had thoses clips that caused all the trouble changed?A) Any Phoon on the floor or the road has had the clutch upgrade.6. Is the six speed in the MkII T the same as the manual 6 in the phoon?A) Yes and no. Same box but different clutch, syncro's and ratio's.7. Does the phoon respond just as well to mods as the T or are things restricted?A) Responds well, if not better than a T imo. Stronger valve springs and rods, bigger intercooler - all issues holding back the T.8. Do parts for phoons have any "premium" on them more so than a T? ie. Door handle for a T and Typhoon could be the same but costs extra if you ask for it ?A) FPV specific parts do have a premium on them. Warranty will cover 90+% of any concerns you have - unless you blow the warranty .There are some great deals going on the current Phoon. Biggest choice for potential owners is if you go old and manual or new and auto. If your shopping on price go for the old, mod it and be very happy with well over 300rwkw very cheaply and easilyGood luck.
