Sure driving style and speed have an influence on tyre wear as does climate but I would think the main difference between various tyre wear figures is the type of road surface and condition. :nono:

Victoria has better roads to keep the Mexicans there and NSW has sh*t roads to keep all banana benders away. :censored:

Seriously walk bare foot on old bitumin and you will tear de feet to pieces, same for tyres. Lovely smooth roads not so much wear. :nono:

I'm averaging 30,000 and a set of tyres a year. :gooff:

Just brought a set of Dunlop Direzza 17's. Does anyone know if they're a good tyre?

Aaron  :spoton:

They look like a good tyre but only in NZ at present from the report. Do you think they are any quieter that the SP3000a.

????? Cro, Not even a performance tyre mate

From the Dunlop web site;

A new generation high performance tyre specifically designed for sports sedans is being introduced by Dunlop New Zealand. The Direzza DZ101 follows on from the very popular Formula FM 901 to deliver better dry and wet handling, lower noise, and more even wear on to keep the tyre looking good throughout its life.

The only half decent tyre dunlop has bought out is the SP9000. And there are a sh*tload of better tyres out there.

How can they be great? They arn't even as good as the standard dunlops, and they are completely sh*t.

I've made my thoughts on the best tyres out there clear plenty of times.

As for tyres I've had on my T

Dunlop SP3000a

Michelin Pilot Preceda

Pirelli P Zero Nero

The last two would be the best tyre available in 17"

I preffer the Preceda because of the much better dry grip over the Pirelli's.

If I had 18" rims I would go for the best rated road tyre. Michelin Pilot Sport 2.

Unfortunately these don't come in 17's

I've driven cars with Nankangs NS2's, Continental Sport Contact 1, Dunlop SP9000, Bridgestone S03, some top of the line Falkens, Kumho Exta's, and I would not dare put any of these tyres on my car.

Took your suggestion and priced the Michelin, not bad at $265 each fitted.

In looking for other tyres though found this site. Wheels mag 2005 tyre test results also.

http://www.maxxis.com/products/automotive/...tail.asp?id=102

Available from Bob Janes for $195 fitted. The dealer I spoke to has these on his ford ute and recommends them.

Colin T,

They're the tyre I have just brought (Dunlop Direzza DZ101) and I like what I have just read. I haven't put them on yet should be sometime around Xmas. I'll post the outcome on how they'll go. :spit:

Mate rotating regulary and 40 psi will see that you get the best out of your tyres, whatever they are. Having said that go to JAX tyres and they will set you up, with a reasonable set of tyres that will give more than 30 thou.

Enjoy

Yep, 326's are shockers! :pooh:

Slippery in the wet, not inspiring at all. And that was in Dad's car with 200kg and 30kw less...Replaced by Goodyear F1's within 1000km!

Lumpy

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

... hehe tis a good reason for me to upgrade the whole lot to some aftermarket 19" rims and some decent treads... particularly as the g/f is going to drive the T more.. :spoton:
