My rears are now absolutely r00ted (SP3000) with the tread blocks peeling off the casing. Most of my driving is highway with a reasonable amount of drift work in the city and running just over 250 rwkw.

.... and I have just hit the 80,000 km mark (on the original rears).

Not surprisingly, the rear tyres feel as hard as bugg@ry and won't stick to the road .....

Finer,

I'm in the same boat. What are you going to replace them with? The SP9000 are pretty expensive ($550 ea)

The Michelin PS2 are the best tyre going but $650 ea is the best I can find. The last thing I want is to buy a $250 tyre and hate the way the car drives.

I'm thinking of using my spare so I only need to buy 3? Cheapskate I know :fool:

I got 45000k out of the standards - at which point I did a few big burnouts and had to replace the rears... :stirthepot:

I bought some fulda? - some german brand owned by bridgestone from bob jane. And they aren't bad - I can't notice a big diff between them and the OEMs.

Take a look at what tyres taxis wear - they should give you the best economy because that is what they're all about

Bob Jane Specials..

Don't even need a lever to get the tyre off the rim. Shows how soft the sidewalls are..

I did some searching, but most discussions seemed to centre around best performance tyres, which is understandable I suppose.

However, having arrived at 30,000 km and not much tread left on the original tyres Ford fitted on the standard wheels, on my XR6T, I was wondering...

Are there any tyres that will last longer? I did not wear them out doing burnouts etc, so I presume 30,000 is normal for the softer rubber in these tyres.  I do not require top notch performance tyres, just something safe and economical.  Is this possible, and if so, what would you recommend?

silica tyres seem a good balance!!!!

mmmmmmmmm I have fulda 18s and was told they are dunlop?1500km and the rears are rooted 3mm left out of 8.took them back to bobjanes then I contacted the dunlop manager in sa they are replaceing them with sp3000 in18" 245 40 18 just making them in 18s now,the dunlop rep told me that the fulda was a bit soft for a turbo car @300rwkw and would heat up too much and that's whay they did.

I got 55,000 from the original dunlops, would have had another 10K in them , but the softening of the the front springs made the alignment out on the front causing uneven wear.

So while all other tyres were fine, the front insides were down to the bone. Only found it by accident one day when I parked on full lock, might be something to check.

The best the tyre dealer had seen was 68,000 from the dunlops.

And no, there was no sedate driving involved and the I'm in brisbane.

Went with the same dunlops SP3000a's as they did well the first time around. For $200 a corner, not bad value.
