Guest SteeleFalcon Guests Posted 09/10/05 07:09 AM Share Posted 09/10/05 07:09 AM (edited) After watching the test on e10, e5, std unleaded and premium unleaded milage I though I would do my own test. I have filled up with 65 ltrs of Std unleaded and a bottle of nulon octane boost. The performance seems to be same as premium maybe slightly better not sure. I wanted to see if the economy changed at all . Im about half way through the tank and all seems much the same as the premium . The cost was about $4 more for the tank ill post a reply on the figures when emptyed the tankstd t ute no mods auto 30000klm Edited 09/10/05 07:11 AM by SteeleFalcon

Probably no more kms than unleaded (even though its theoretically possible) ...but definitely no more kms than premium of the same octane you have increased your unleaded to using the additive. The thermal efficiency of the engine is the biggest deteminant of efficiency (in terms of km per litre or similar measure). Octane does not effect thermal efficiency - unless of course the octane additive causes a reduction in the BTU of the fuel - which is definitely possible. IN that case you would exect worse fuel economy.
Guest SteeleFalcon Guests Posted 11/10/05 06:44 AM Share Posted 11/10/05 06:44 AM (edited) Well you were right about the worse fuel econ but only a little different. My test in done the ute ran faultlessly on the std unleaded and 1 bottle of nulon. The fuel econ drop by about 15 klms for the tank and felt a little lethargic. So my thoughts on the the fuel load is that it was poo.now to try a tank full of e 10. Can anyone tell me where to find a petrol station that sell E10 near Frankston Please. After doing a few checks under the hood I found my sparkplugs were fouled up with a layer of orange colourd stuff ? 1 new set of plugs fixed the problem
