It usually take me around 1 hour - 2 hours.

I use the 3 bucket method.

One bucket full of suds and a bucket full of fresh water.

Wash the wheels first dipping the lambs wool mitt into the fresh water bucket before dipping it into the suds bucket. This removes anything caught in your mitt that might scratch the car.

After the wheels are done, tip those buckets out. Refill the fresh water and put suds in another clean bucket, not the one you used for the wheels. Also use another mitt and like the new bucket, never use this one on the wheels.

After washing the car, I use a drying towel. I'll never let a chamois touch my paintwork. Chamois are only used for the dirty areas like the rims, inside the boot, enginebay and door seals.

Once the car is washed and dry, I then go over it with a Quick Detailer and a microfibre cloth to top up the wax or sealant I have on the car.

Plexus is used on the headlights, tailights and windows. Once again, this is applied with a microfibre cloth.

The interior and leather gets done once a month.

I put in the 2nd option because usually I just do a 30-45min car wash at home or at a car wash bay. Then vacuum and armourall for another 30mins.

Then every few months I spend longer and do it properly. Maybe 2 or 3 hours.

I'm interested in what type of Armourall you use, the only one I have makes everthing real shiny. Not the look I want on the dash. I do however use it on the kick plates and sides of the foot wells.

once every 2 months I give it the full zaino treatment (except claybar every 6months)

then maybe once a fortnight either a quick spray at carlovers or a quick wash in the driveway.. the zaino keeps everything from sticking so it only takes about 40mins from 1st hose to chamois.. gotta love zaino !!

Just a comment on car washes. I used to fear their effects on paintwork, but the local one I have been using, has these brushes that seem to be made from strips of plastic chamois. I have using this car wash for 12 months, every 2 weeks on average. I get the premium deal which includes wax etc, and my car always looks great, and I see no swirl marks or anything in the shine. I figure it saves me about 2 hours, so it is a bargain at $12 oe so.

I'd be lucky to spend more than 30 mins once a month

and I do some some dirt road driving...

(I just don't have the time)

at one point I was going to take a photo and submit it here, but I got too scared of the abuse I'd get. :gooff:

It depends on the mood I'm in, if I just want something that looks respectable I'll do the 15 min car wash (the DIY at carlovers) but if I'm wanting it to look good then I'll probably spend about 3 hours, my best effort was 6 hours...

Currently not allowed to wash our cars under our water restrictions, even a car lovers laser wash is costing $18.

Things are so controlled up here now I think the counsel is about to start a IF ITS YELLOW LET IT MELLOW, IF ITS BROWN FLUSH IT DOWN. campaign.

Dazza.
