Mine went in today to get a service & studs replaced/tightened.

I gave them some Loctite Silver Grease to put on the studs.

My studs generally come out with the nut firmly in place... I have had one drop out completely. As mentioned, it's easy to hear when they are loose. Makes a wastegate/blowoff valve noise under moderate acceleration.

I'll let you know how the grease goes, but it should help things.

It's not just Ford, it's because of the temp range of the studs. Extreme hot to Cold will always make them unstable..

I have never seen one myself, but is it a nut that is coming loose or is there a bolt that holds the turbo in??

If it is only a nut that sits on a stud that comes out of the manifold and through the Turbo flange, then why not put some lock-tight on there and then put another nut on after the first one if there is any thread left? That should keen the sucker there!

All turbos seem to have this problem. I had the same issue with a GT4 Toyota and an S14 200SX, check the bolts every 10,000km.

Can someone tell me exactly how to check these 4 bolts on a Phoon. Obviously the heat shield(s) need to be removed, but if someone has done it already id like some feedback! georgemopar@hotmail.com

You can check 2 by looking at them.. Just next to the turbo.. The other 3 need the shielding taking off.

I used my fone to take a pik of the one at the rear down the bottom. Bit hard to see with the naked eye..

Foon is same as T. Identical even..

Their are new bolts in the BF turbo they are using to stop them from coming out you may be a ball to get from the dealer no stud no nut just a bolt I think they are a stainless steel bolt I was told they are very expensive. They now off the problem.
