Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows if the new 6 speed auto is a sealed gearbox (meaning you cant open and strengten the box further) or if it is possible to be opened up and moded?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Its supposed to be sealed for life but that doesn't mean it can't be pulled apart as it has an oil pan etc that can be removed. I think sealed for life means it shouldn't need to be opened for its whole service life, but if need be it can be. I think if you have a problem with a stock one Ford would more likely replace the whole lot rather than pull it apart to fix it.

Pretty much, like I said in another thread, if it can be built, it can be taken appart if needed, and that applies to safes. Since this is not a safe, but a gearbox, it should be somewhat easier to pull appart...

Therefor, parts can be re machined and strengthened/lightened/modified if the right tools and finances permit.

It is a "sealed unit".... someone will figure out how to get into it soon enough though :nono: shouldnt be an issue for too long at all.
