Just priced the DBA-42104, this is the replacement for the Ford rotors.

All my prices are from Bursons as I have always found Repco dearer.

The DBA-42104 are $220 each.

If you check the Ford site you will see the exact PBR kit pictured that Ford use, except in red.

Fark that's quite a difference... what about calipers?

Premium Brake calipers are different and use a different pad to standard brakes.. Ive ordered my PBR kit and should have it next week.. Huge difference in pedal feel alone with the Premium upgrade, farking HUGE!

I have the PBR kit as well, and I agree totally :tease:

You sure they are PBR or just an imitation of them?

This link takes you to the details, the rotors do have a spiral groove which is different to my PBR's.

http://www.fpv.com.au/index.asp?link_id=2.472

When you go to this link you will see PBR on the calliper

Click on Configure and price

Click on F6 Typhoon

Click on next page

and there in the middle is a picture that says PBR performance brakes standard.

It would still pay to check with PBR or DBA though.

If it's any help I have previously purchased a set of DBA 4000 slotted for the T from discpads.com in Sydney and they were $130 each delivered, about half the quoted price from Repco. Consider also the RB74 pads from racebrakes - heaps of power under repeated hot, hard braking but little dust. Both are available in the different front diameters for standard and premo sized rotors, the rears are the same size standard and premo.

Thanks for the advice

I have spoken to PBR before as they supply the Genuine Ford part but when I went back to get a part no: got 2 duifferent stories ,one siad I could but the rotors (with straight grooves) sepeately then one last week said no, only in full kits at this stage.

I ordered a set of DBA rotors yesterday.

I got the XS version (Grooves and cross drilled).

Repco in Canberra were $70 a rotor cheaper than Supercheap.

I could not find them for sale on the web but I did not look hard.

As for pads the Hawke Performace ceramic or the RB74 pads both sound like good choices.

Less dust would be good.

Regards

I've had a few good experiences with gimmecarparts in Canberra for ordering brake components. Fast, reliable AND cheap.

It's generally parts only, and you gotta know the part number (check DBA.com.au for their catalogue etc)

Cheers

Nick

Sounds like you should now consider a Wog tune at the end of the month to make these brakes REALLY worthwhile!?.....................

I would not mind having a DYNOWOG tune, however I am booked in to Jakes in a week or so to have one. Am using the standard 8psi at present.

Was trying to get all any repairs, mods etc done before week of 25th when my new car arrives and this one goes to my wife.

Glad you found a solution that you were happy with.

I know the complications you have to gone through in trying to work out the best solution. Not easy to be able have a rotor and pad that you know will go together.

I have gone through a similar decission myself recently. I'm waiting to have the PBR performance kit fitted this week, not by Ford even though the car is still under warranty.

Nice choice of car to give the wife, makes me wonder what you are going to by that would be better than the XR?

Regards
