hey guys,

Has anyone looked into the idea. Would Ford supply the new 6 speed auto transmission on demand / What would be the coast of installing it in a MKII Auto XR6T ?

Totally different make of transmission altogether so it would need a new transmission controller that could talk to the existing BA PCM and I think that’s about where it will stop in the short term.

Maybe 6 months after its been out someone may well be able to shed some light on that possibility but it’s doubtful at this stage.

Its still unknown if the new six speed will be editable in the BF with CAPA type Edit.

Some say Yes and some Say NO WAY in the short term.

The amount of wiring required for the ZF would basically mean if you didn't have a BF engine and ECU to go with it it won't work, not to mention the trans cooler which is routed from the heater pipes and sits next to the engine. Its not a case of bolting one in and off you go. Have a look at the latest Performance Ford magazine as it runs through the complexities of the ZF.

Two and a half years ago, the boost [supposedly]couldn't be upped in an XR6 Turbo either without causing problems. The factory PCM was impossible to crack and edit also. But look where we are at now. Someone will manage this transmission swap, gauranteed.

Its a lot easier to change software, hardware is a different story. Without the extra wiring looms the BF has its not going to be possible.

It will be possible, you can do anything you want, just depends on how much money you have, time, and research and development.

If you have lots of money, lots of time and lots of reasearch and development then one day you will have one.

If you have neither of the above then no you won't have a converted 6-speed auto.

Someone will one day and make it cheaper for others to try, however the cost involved initially, the smart money would be to just buy a BF.
