Boost 98?

Was out to dinner last night with a good mate. He is an engineer and very keen motor head and spent 10 years with Mobil.

I asked about the different fuels - BP 98, Mobil 98 and the Shell stuff.

He was adamant that Shell is crap as while it has a true octane rating of 98, it has characteristics that our cars don't like at all - he says stay away big time

So he recommends and uses only the BP and Mobil 98 for his warm LS1 - but here is the interesting point - atleast in Vic - BP 98 and Mobil 98 are the same product - exactly.

He says the tankers from Mobil and BP fill up from the SAME storage tank here in Melb - no diff what so ever !! And he was the operations manager at the Mobil refinery.

Didn't ask about Brisbane though

Where do you buy it in Sydney?

I probably by 99% of fuel from Caltex or BP and haven't seen any there. The Caltex website has info on the stuff but seems to only mention Country NSW & QLD, so that rules them out.
