The natural rating of this fuel is 102 without the corrision inhibiters in it. They've had to 'over inhibit' the stuff to 'water down' the fuel and bring it to within the regulations for australian premium fuels; 98.

It won't corrode anything, even if you left it somewhere for 3 months, it just won't react while in the presence of these inhibiting chemicals... Infact, from what I've learnt about how they kept the fuel to within 1% of the 98 rating, this stuff has enough inhibiters mixed through to safely handle a 15% ethanol mix.

And this will really get you.....

A 15% mix would yeild a fuel that would have enough oxygen through it to theoretically be comparable to a 20hp shot of nos at WOT accross most of the rev range...

Yep, its good gear, and it should allow some pretty psycho timing advances....

that may be the case but from a tuners point of wview it wont allow me as much timing as mobil 8000 or bp ultimate but will allow me more than optimax vortex and the 95's

boost 98 use ethanol although it is carsenagenic and corosive this is normally only after sitting stagnant for a while so if going away next week the fill with other non ethanol fuel today to ensure no ethanol remains in the system while the car is stagnant!!!!

No I just recon if there is that much difference in fuel quality then they should be reported... that's shocking, they must be selling lower fuel at the higher prices and that is against the law.

simon you personally tuned in melb yet?

optimax seems pretty consistant in all states I been to but its as bad as mobil 5000 no where near as good as the 8000 or ultimate we have and sydneys ultimate and brissy's ultimate seem to be similar to our 95!

try it when tunning with chris!!!!

When I was in melbourne with Simon from Nizpro and and Martin and Jerry we had my wifes XR6T on the dyno , I had filled up on Ultimate all the way to Melbourne from Perth and the car never needed any changes to its tune. In Melbourne I used 8000 synergy and it gave the same results so I was impressed with the consistancy in the fuels going from one side of the country to the other....

But to hear how bad the fuels are in the last few posts is very dissapointing.

So if I understand this correctly, you guys are saying that the Ethanol mix 98 RON will have better properties to prevent ping, than non ethanol based fuels?

On top of that, I've heard that the ethanol based product being sold in Brisbane is probably closer to 99RON.

I too can vouch for gold coast BP fuel being hit and miss.If you buy it from the big BP servo at Coomera,I dont get any dramas but from the little servos in town,I get pinging action.It was that bad once that I abused the servo for selling crap fuel.When these cars running these kinds of tunes that most of us have, you can tell the differance from a good batch to a sh*t one.
