sorry for the late update.

the BF new 6 Speed gear box is great...100% on the 4 speed.

with some edit Tunning the results would be 10fold again

I could not for the life of me feel the box from 2-3 and 3-4 unless I was on the gas 100% (which was most of the time)

driveline lash is gone(although this is a brand new display car from ford australia) and ditto for the brake shudder I could not feel the power diffrence although it is only 5klw.

I could notice the nm diffrence though.

it feels like it picks up harder in the mid range (3000 - 4500)

the seat and door colour is personal choice... although I did not like it... and I like the right blus tyre patten... it was bright... very bright...

but other then that the car handled great when pushed,,, I noticed the traction control did not cut in as harsh as the BA does

brakes look like they ARE from the terrritory...

and I could not notice a big increase in braking but again I was expecting big things from them( after the right ups those brakes have had)

anything else you need to know??

So does the auto still has manual mode and what difference does the closer ratios make to off line acceleration?

im still sceptical on driveline lash and power steering shudder...

I also said that mine was gone when I got my mk11... and it was gone until I racked up some more kilometres.

Otherwise all sounds good :tease:

jetute,

check out the latest edition of wheels - they have a large pic of the BF XR6 and you can clearly see the 17'' rims. I like them, more so than the BA II XR rims, but I still like the original BA XR 17'' the best

Spoke to my Ford Dealer last night (Service boys).

They have all been driving the BF XR6 Turbo, and the rest of the BF series.

Comments on the auto where as per our lucky test driver:

- smooooooth, no gear change feel at all in normal mode.

- much more off the line oomph with the lower ratios, made it feel like the initial lag was gone.

- slightly faster on their private test track - lol - simple tests of max speed from standing to point B.

- Can spin the wheels through gears stock unlike stock XR6T 4 speed auto. Actually doesn't impress me with 280rwkw....last thing I would want with higher power.

- Said something about a 'launch control' as opposed too just traction control - this has me wondering WTF??

- Didn't seem to think interior noise was reduced as per all the advertising.

- Other MAJOR improvement stated was handling (again like our lucky test driver stated). The Ford boys said the improvement BA to BF was significant, like the improvement AU to BA!! Apparently the handling is now very neutral and involved some very minor change to shocks, nothing more. They all raved on about this.

- Discussed other cars but most interesting comment was that BF XR8 apparently has a much meatier sound (!?) like a bigger CAT. They had no idea why though,

The XR8 is apparantly going to be running so close to the legal exhaust volume limit that the EPA weren't too impressed, but can't do a thing about it because the limit is set where it is for a specific reason and as long as its under, its under...

Like winning, whether by an inch or a mile, the result is the same...

Oh yeah, have to add another one they said:

- In SSS mode (6 speed SSS is apparently much more 'manual-like' btw) it won't automatically change down through the gears to 1 when you come to a stop and don't change from say 4 in the BA - it will now stop at 2nd gear....
