Okay, I just did some calculations and this is what I came up with.

Twin 2.25" pipes have a combined (cross sectional) area of about 7.95 (inches squared).

Single 3" pipe has an area of about 7.07.

Single 3.5" pipe has an area of about 9.62.

My logic tells me that the larger the area of the tube, the more air it will flow (somebody tell me if that’s incorrect). :idunno: Based on that, I would say that the stock 2.25" pipes would flow more than a single 3" pipe. :blink:

Having said that, this doesn’t, of course, take into account things like cats and/or other restrictions like mufflers, etc. Hope that helps. :spoton:
