Well I went in to Ford and took a rapid Typhoon for a drive,

this is a very nice looking car in the flesh.

first thing I noticed is, everyone stairs at this car,

including Expensive Daewoo drivers.

the brakes were alot better then my car,(as expected)

but there was a few things I was not so impressed with.

I just want to know if you guy's noticed this at first (compared to a xr6t) and then got used to it, because it was only a test drive for about half hour, so you don't get time to adjust.

at low speed corners it felt heavy compared to my t (under 80 k's)

and I had a bit of trouble with the clutch ingage hight, but I think I would get used to that.

it could have been the manual, that made it feel heavy, and if this is the case, I would get use to that to.

but all up it is a very speical car :spoton:

I had a serious drive of a phoon...

encouraged by owner to "give it one"

no complaints no problems no difficulties...

would have a phoon in a heartbeat

yes I still loved it, it's just that I was expecting it to feel more adgeile then my xr6t, but infact it felt the other way. this was pushing it around rounderbouts and 90 degree corners, maybe I should have taken it out of town, through a range or something to show up it's reel ability.

my extra torque, might be blurring my judgement to.

I was just wondering if the ones that have owned both had noticed that at lower speeds that's all,

My phoon feels like a Focus compared with my ute! Although, I still love it anyway........... :fool:

One big thing I have noticed (again compared with my ute - not a sedan) is the corning ability. One of my favourite corners just from home is great for *cough* getting it a little sideways....... and the ute loves it - 2nd gear and smoking. My 'phoon with more power just hunkers down and goes. The slingshot out is amazing. This is the biggest standout - it handles better and puts the power down better than any taxi has a right to really. Now I just have to try and lower the drivers seat a couple of inches as it feels like you are sitting on the roof.

Ask the guy in his new black SS ute what it is like to be passed from a standstill from directly behind and a car length put on you all by the end of second gear by a sideways, wheel spinning 'phoon......... A very memorable moment and a look of sheer disbelief I believe on the driver's face - so my wife said.

thanks for the feed back F6 Rapid, did you get that feeling when the phoon was standed, and the ute with 300ish, because I think it was that it was stocker,

I found on slow corners my t had more grip out of slow corners, but that is to be expected with the phoons firmer setup, the xr6t's would deteirate at all higher speeds, even at 80k's the phoon was showing it's class.

I see why you ended up wiyh your rapid typhoon, it was very hard to walk away from, even the mags I liked, I did not like them in the pictures I saw, but in the flesh they were smick. :fool:

I was also very pleased with the short firm gear shift, although I was not use to it, it felt quality.

F6 Rapid , interesting that you find your Phoon feels like a Focus when compared to your T ute even though the Phoon is packing more neddies :spit:

My T was running 280 RWKW and even in standard trim 228 rwkw the Phoon certainly pulled as hard through the gears ( auto V manual), but through the twisties the Phoon would have eaten it.With mods now on the Phoon , wouldn't even compare the 2 cars in the same breath

LMAO at the SS , had virtually a mirror occurence but with a sedan, look on the drivers face was priceless

My point exactly about not even in the same comparison ballpark. As good as my ute is, the phoon is far superior - as you would expect. It does axle tramp a fair bit though. When you stand on it in second, takes a second to spool up and then wheelspin central with some axle tramp.

Look forward to putting it on the dyno on Wednesday morning and then fine tuning it.
