I H8PORK can you explain a bit more what sound problem you are having when running the converter from the rear speakers?

Also a tip for everyone: Dont underestimate the power of power :P Run phat guage possitive wire from the battery for your amp and also have the same or thicker guage stuff for your earth. make sure all connections are solderered properly and I wouldnt use clips etc to splice audio or power lines. Have no relays in the circut. I used a *grinder* to make absolutly sure that my ground line was flush on metal not paint etc, and use a big bolt not a tiny tec-screw (no manhood jokes please :P).

XXXR6T, my sub/amp is all working well now but my only problem like you mentioned is that the boot anitnoise works too well. I have to drive around with the passenger side rear seat down to get the sort of thump I like... Do you or anyone for that matter have any bightspark ideas how we can get the sound thru and have our seats up... maybe hacking the parcel shelf and putting some ports or grills... Im going to take out the factory 8" sub 2night to see if that helps...

FAT-51X, JB Hi Fi talks trash in your case. How can they not know that there is another option to not having RCA out on your head unit? Go back to them and tell them its called a Hi-input to low-out RCA line level super duper converter thingy or sumin like that :P

What line level converters are you guys using? I'm using a cheapo $20 one from supercheap auto...

Considering I dont have the factory sub I dont think taking it out is going to make a huge difference. I want to play with a custom install but I need another sub first. I'll have a look at it on the weekend and try organise a time for pork to work with me on it... maybe we can do some experimenting :D

I wouldn't recommend hacking the parcel shelf... not only is it illegal it looks poo!

hey VECZAR, why dont you remove teh factory 8" sub, and modify your sub box so it uses that hole as a port, that should push some decent air and bass into the cabin.. especially if you can seal it up nicely so that hole is the only airflow separating boot from cabin..

hehe well I hope so !! I havent had any decent bass in a car since about 2003 in my GQ Patrol, that was a weapon haha..

I really want to wire up the subs so they provide a 1ohm load to my amp, but both subs are single voice coil and 4ohm so I can only get down to 2ohms..

Anyone know a way around this ???

YES I have thought about using my other 2 x 15's as well to make a 1 ohm load but then there will be ZERO bootspace hahaha

There isn't really a way around this, unless you buy some bass engines of 4ohm each that way you could have the punch of 2 subs and the rumble of 2 engines under the seats...

Isn't 2 ohms enough??

The sound problem im experiencing is hard to describe. The factory sub sounds pretty good but just wont crank for example. Whereas my two 12's just sound sort of monotone and thud like?? I am running 8 gauge from the battery but the earth is pidly. I was running 4 gauge in the last car but the problem is the signal im pretty sure. that's why I want to test using the front speakers to hook upto the alpine line level converter.

Put it this way my mates single 12 running off an alpine deck sounds 100 times better!!!

thanx fr the help mate... I kinda figured that they were feeding me BS once I read this thread...

it turns out that Stinger have an "extremely super duper line level converter" which splits whatever needs to be split into 4 speaker things instead of 2 which the guy said will most probably get rid of my supercharger whine from the speakers aswell.... retails for $130 and I can run all 4 speakers plus the subs...

which is what I wanted from the start, but oh well.. a step forward none the less

It would be good if there was a piggy-back harness which could plug into the ICC to tap off the audio signal from all four channels, feed them into a line level converter and output a nice clean signal for amplification. If only I had the pinouts for the stereo!

If only ford put outputs on the friggin stereo!!$#*&@# :tease:
